If you read my post yesterday, you already know how we spent our first ten hour or so in Cadillac, Michigan this past weekend. If you missed it, you can check it out here. Sadly, the other two nights we didn't have a sunset quite as spectacular as the first day, so I am really glad we took the stroll for me to get those shots.
The next morning we woke up and after having some breakfast (eggs and bacon on the Blackstone), we headed out to Kenwood Heritage Park so I could throw a round of disc golf.
I didn't take many photos because I have already written about this disc golf course twice before on HIVE, but I did come across this stump with some slugs crawling around on some fungus and I thought it was pretty cool so I snapped some shots. The detail is pretty amazing on them even with my smartphone.
I ended up shooting my best round ever on this course with a score of +6. I had a nasty double bogey earlier in the round, but towards the end I was able to toss a couple of nice birdie putts to keep my score relatively low. It was a good time.
After disc golf we headed back to the campground to relax for the rest of the afternoon. @mrsbozz took a nap in the trailer and I spent some time under the awning reading my book. This tree was on our campsite and I found it really interesting. It reminded me a lot of the palm trees down south and out west.
It's been a while since we have taken our bicycles on a camping trip, so we decided to throw them in this past weekend. We took a short ride on Friday after my wife's nap and my reading time. We didn't want to go too crazy as it has been a while since we have ridden the bikes.
These Diamondback bicycles are close to 35 years old. We got them from my parents when we started camping as they used to use them when they went camping. Given the fact that they no longer camp, they really didn't need them anymore. I remember them getting these bikes when I was a kid and they cost something like $300 USD a piece. With inflation that equals about $750 USD today, so at the time they were pretty fancy bikes I guess.
They still work relatively well though the gears slip a bit at times.
Of course Friday evening we had a fire because that's what you do when you are camping. It was another really nice evening though a bit more cloudy than the night before.
With the road being so close I decided to try to get some long exposure shots of the cars going by. They turned out pretty well though nothing like the shots that @tattoodjay takes.
I'm kind of bummed I couldn't get one with tail lights and a spark flying out from the fire, but oh well. I still think they turned out pretty good for my first try. If not a little grainy.
Saturday morning @mrsbozz and I went on a bit longer bicycle ride, but we still kept it relatively short. We didn't want to get too confident and end up miles away from the campground and not enough steam to get ourselves back. We actually did really well for not having ridden in quite some time. I guess that old adage is true...
I think there is a good chance we will start to take our bikes more frequently in the future.
We had to run out briefly on Saturday for some more wood, gas, a McDonald's Diet Coke(if you know, you know), and a chocolate malt for me. For the most part though, we just relaxed at the campground doing a lot of reading (I finished my book!), and resting. It's hard to see in the last two photos, but this helicopter kept flying over the campground right above our site every 30 minutes or so.
I finally got curious enough to do some Googling to see what might be going on and I discovered there was a "Wings and Wheels" show in town that weekend at the airport and they were giving helicopter rides for a small donation.
If I had known about it sooner, I would have driven us over there, but by the time I figured it out, it was close to the time they were wrapping up for the day.
Cadillac ended up being the perfect way to recharge our batteries before starting a new school year.
Sounds like a fun time! Camping, going on bike rides and everything in between.
Oh! Yeah! I know the Mc Donald, hehe.
I love all the images. And I find the one of the tall tree really cool.

@hopestylist here!
Thank you! It was a really great weekend. I am glad you enjoyed the recap!
@bozz Beautiful photos to delight our eyes.
Thank you!
Golf is one game I never learned. Never seen slugs at the beach :) We usually get them in our backyard :)
I only play real golf about once every five to ten years. Disc golf on the other hand is a monthly if not weekly thing for me.
Looks like you chill out when you are camping. I do enjoy a cycle ride, especially if it is away from roads. We did a nice one on Cape Cod a couple of years back.
This place has a ton of nicely paved paths that you can ride your bicycle on. They take you almost all the way into town which is pretty cool.
Sounds like a really fun and relaxing trip. I like how you mixed in a little bit of everything with disc golf, biking, campfires, and just taking time to read and rest. Those older bikes are pretty cool too, it’s great that they are still holding up after so many years. The long exposure shots turned out nice as well, especially for your first try. Cadillac seems like a great place to get away and recharge.
Thank you! It's really a great place to visit in both the summer and the winter.

Thank you! It was pretty great!
It was a nice and refreshing way to spend time together and experience the last days of summer. It will also help to recharge your batteries before you go back to work. Thanks for sharing the experience and for the nice shots.
Thank you for stopping by!
Very nice pic. I like bycicle ride too, so I know how fun it is.
Thank you!
The calm before the silly I lost my password questions. 😂
