The past few months have truly been a flurry of activity. It all started a few weeks before Thanksgiving when @mrsbozz and I found out quite unexpectedly that we were suddenly a great aunt and uncle. It's a long (and somewhat private) story, just know that my great niece is freaking beautiful. I literally melt whenever I look at her. I honestly can't think of anything more perfect in this world at this moment in time.
This post isn't about her though. Believe me when I say I do have enough pictures to cover at least a dozen posts and she isn't even three months old yet.
However, I felt this (cropped) image fits perfectly with my theme this week for #threetunetuesday sponsored by @ablaze as you will see in a paragraph or two.
I've always been a fan of instrumental music. Many people call it "elevator music" and look upon it with disdain. I think perhaps they just haven't taken the time to really appreciate it. Either that, or they just have really bad taste!
Maybe they were forced to listen to classical music as a kid and that ruined it for them. Whatever reason, I feel they are really missing out.
I was in band all through junior and senior high school. Plus, when I was younger, we used to listen to one of the instrumental stations at the time on boring rainy Saturday nights as a family and play "name that tune". You probably won't be shocked to find I was quite good at it.
I remember when Zamfir came out my dad bought several of his pan flute centered albums. Likewise, my dad was also a big Yanni fan back in the day, so perhaps that helped feed my admiration for this style of music as well. I have a plethora of jazz or instrumental playlists that I play in my office pretty much every day of the week.
It was via one of those playlists on Spotify that I was introduced to 40 Fingers. I'd actually never heard of them before this point, but I have to say, these four Italian guys absolutely rock.
Although this is called #threetunetuesday, I'm focusing more on the group this week than the songs. Yes, I am going to share three songs with you, but whichever ones I pick, they are pretty irrelevant. They hold no special meaning for me beyond the fact that they are all performed by this amazing quartet.
This cover of "Sultans of Swing" by Dire Straits is actually the first song I heard by 40 Fingers that introduced me to their music. I was working away in my office one day when this familiar tune came on, but it was in a style that I had never heard before. Sure, the melody and all of that was the same, but the acoustic instrumentation and tempo was just a bit different enough to grab my attention.
As I said before, 40 Fingers is a quartet of guitar players from Italy. They were formed in 2017, and there is a good chance people in Europe have known about them for years even though they are quite new to me. I think what makes them so special is that the way they cover popular classic rock songs as you have seen by the past two videos (Deep Purple and Dire Straits).
In case you are still confused, 40 Fingers is clearly a reference to the fact that there are four of them and they each have ten fingers. Hence the photo of hands and fingers at the beginning of this post.
Besides popular classic rock songs, it appears they also cover a fair number of film scores and their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody is pretty phenomenal though I didn't share it here. I will leave that as some homework for you!
I'm actually going to be keeping my eye out for these guys. They seem to be the sort of group that might find their way to the local performing arts venue where I live. If they do, I will be snatching up tickets in a heartbeat. It's something that I think both @mrsbozz and I would really enjoy.
Have you heard of 40 Fingers before or is this a new one for you? What do you think? Too boring for you? Pretty amazing? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
I've never heard of these guys but they seriously are awesome. Too be able to play Deep Purple and Dire Straits acoustic is and make it good, not an easy feat. Very cool find!
Thanks, I was really blown away by them as well! Definitely a lot of talent in those 40 Fingers!
Ah, got it now! "40 Fingers" makes a lot of sense with that explanation, @bozz. I'm definitely intrigued by their range, blending classic rock with film scores. Their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody must be something special if you're leaving it as homework. I'll definitely have to check it out, thanks for the recommendation! πΈπΆ Are there any other covers or performances from them that you particularly enjoyed?
All of their stuff is really good to be honest. I was talking to my wife on our way into work this morning and I told her if they ever come to our neck of the woods we definitely need to attend that show!
This is the most beautiful first because in which the child holds your fingers, it becomes even more beautiful. She is the sweetest gift of life which makes us feel the best and dearest in the world.
She is pretty awesome. I can't wait to watch her grow up. My niece is going to be one of the best moms!

I like these, never heard of them before.
Great homework task by the way!
Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed it!
As someone who creates video content...we love instrumental music :D Sometimes the words just get in the way of a good video. You mentioned you were in band throughout high school, what did you play?
I was in the percussion section. I miss it. We had a lot of fun and got into a lot of trouble. The drummers were always the rebels at he back of the orchestra!
The of looking at this beautiful baby gladdens my heart. Congratulations for having her with you. Please take good care of her. She's so beautiful πβ€οΈπ₯°
Thanks, we only get to see her occasionally, but she always brings a lot of joy when she is around.
She is adorable as I see through the cropped images....The smile and cuteness of infants alwsys melts anyone heart....would surely looking to see more....but respecting the privacy...all my blessings to the little angel.
Thanks, I appreciate it. Yeah, if she were mine I'd probably share a bit more, but privacy is best!
