My bet on nuclear is paying off
You might remember last week I was talking about how the smoke from the wildfires in Canada has been working its way down in the US and wrecking havoc with our air quality. Days have been like a blurred haze lately, and it's not saying much, but even I have been having a little trouble breathing when outdoors. It's not like you can't breathe, but you do find yourself getting winded a little quicker than normal.
The one good side effect of the smoke is that sunrises on the way to work have been pretty magnificent. The other morning we had to go to work a different way than we usually do and it took us down a back road that gave us the opportunity to stop and take some proper pictures of the sunrise. @mrsbozz took these two photos I am going to share today, and trust me when I say as pink as the sun looks here, it was even more pink to the naked eye.
I need to remember to throw my better camera from work in my truck so that I can have it when we see good shots like this in the morning or wherever. I'm not going to try and talk about the markets too much this morning. I still plan on covering some finance stuff, but I don't even know where to begin predicting the price of BTC. Over the past day I found myself thinking back to that Spring day several years ago when BTC hit the $3000 mark in 2018 or 2019 I think it was. I picked up some SATS then, but like a noob I sold it a short time later when the price went back up.
Oh how I wish I had the hold game back then that I have now...

Splinterlands
It would appear that my packs aren't selling as quickly as I had hoped they would. I jumped over to the marketplace on @splinterlands and I noticed that 99 of my Chaos Legion packs are still sitting out there waiting to be purchased. Likewise, of the 200 Riftwatchers packs I put on the market, only 15 of them have sold so far.
I still plan on keeping them on the market, hopefully someone will eventually snatch them up. I still haven't decided yet if I am going to take the DEC I earn from the pack sales and sell it to power up my HIVE account some more or if I will try to pick up some more lands. It's a tough call.
Now that @monstermarket is charging for hosting your SPS validator node, I sent over my $5 for this month the other day. Sitting down in the 87th spot just about @tarazkp at 88, I have to wonder if I am even making enough in SPS each month to cover the cost of them hosting the node.
I might have to start tracking it a bit closer so I can tell for sure. I'd hate to give up on the node, but if it isn't profitable, there isn't much point right? If you haven't voted for my node yet, please head over to PeakMonsters or Monstermarket and give it a vote would you?
Nuscale
I got a text from my brother in law the other day that simply said "SMR is up 18% today". If you haven't been following me, SMR is the ticker symbol for Nuscale Power a small modular nuclear reactor company I have been following since before they went public a year or so ago. I've actually got about three or four people who purchased this stock at my suggestion and I don't think any of them are sad they did right now.
After the IPO price of $10 per share, it dipped a bit for a while, but as of Thursday morning, the price was sitting at a new all time high of $41.60 per share. That's a very nice 4x on my investment so far. The crazy thing is, they have yet to generate a profit. Can you imagine what the stock is going to look like when that finally happens? I'm super pumped about this one. I know I have talked about it a million times already and I will probably continue to do so. Especially if it keeps performing like this.
Right now Nuscale actually has me feeling like I know what I am doing! It's a crazy feeling!
Precious Metal Auctions
I was looking at my local bullion dealers site this morning and I notice that they had some auctions available. I've been wanting to participate in one of these for quite some time now, but I just haven't been able to bring myself to do it. I was browsing through what they had available and I came up on this gem:
I'm not sure how accurate their pricing is, but this Utah Goldback has a estimated price of $500 to $600 USD and with nine bids on record the current price is $180. Yes, there are still about 8 hours left in the auction at my time of writing this and I don't know if they have a reserve price set, but that could be a really decent return on investment assuming the price doesn't move too much.
I think the one thing this place has going for it is Kzoo Bullion is still a pretty small player, so they might not be getting a ton of traffic to their site and that might give people like me more of a chance to snag some auction stuff.
I'm probably not going to bid on this, but I still thought it was cool looking and I need to remember to check their auctions more often.

Selling CL and RW might be hard these days. The new modern is quite dominant still, but I'm sure that the market for the older packs will pick up if (not when in this case...) more people switch back to Wild. Wish you luck!

I burned my fingers a lot on non-profitable companies. I now look for those that are at the brink of profitability, and it's somewhat foreseeable to happen in the next 12 months. And Nuclear is on a run right now, due to the LLM-Boost, so it might be a "buy the rumor, sell the news" type of situation. Still, a 4x is awesome! That's usually my threshold to sell 25% of my stock - that way, I get my investment back, and whatever happens, I did not lose more than some opportunity cost. Anyway, I hope that one is the winner!

I have been toying around with selling a little bit to at least get some of my investment back.
To me, it's peace of mind. I did it with quite a few stocks that just went too far, like HIMS and PLTR. Now I can leave them sit there, totally overvalued, and don't care if they fall again. I need them in 12 years when Lily wants to study, and hope they'll be paying dividends then so I won't have to sell them :-D

I've been in thick smoke many times from fires over the years, when the sun actually turns red and blocks out a lot of the light. It's miserable. You get some beautiful sunsets though like that one when the smoke isn't too thick.
SPS is going down in price again as expected, and packs just aren't selling. We'll see how things go in the coming months, hopefully better. It would suck to have to shut down your node if it's a money pit.
Congrats on NuScale, I like the company and small nuclear is a no brainer. Smaller and more stable local power is better. It makes a lot of sense in my opinion. Good luck on the Goldback. Sometimes you can find deals at local coin stores or the bullion sites.

There's a lot of nuclear actions going on currently and they are actually very polluting! Distrubing the entire atmospheric circle. The current which I heard about recently about was Israel and Iran, people are really fighting like nothing, having no knowledge about these pollution activities happening even after grabbing such great positions they do these kinds of things! Strange..
