Moon Shots and Moving On

I don't know about you, but I feel like the moon has been trying to tell us something lately. Is it just me or does it feel like it has been bigger and brighter these past couple of months? I thought maybe we are just closer to the moon given the time of year, but according to my research, the moon is actually moving further away from the Earth by 3.8 cm each year.

I guess I don't really care either way, what I do know is that it has afforded me the chance to capture some pretty awesome photos. I wasn't going to take the photo you see above. @mrsbozz got a message from her friend saying we needed to look at the moon.

She shouted to me and said "Ramsay says you need to look at the moon". I wasn't even sure where the moon was at that point in the day, but I opened the curtains anyway to see if I could locate it. Lo and behold, there it was right out our front window shining back at me like a giant spotlight.

I got the idea to kind of frame the moon in the branches of the tree in our front yard and the rest is history.

Perhaps all this hype around the moon is gearing up for the big show next month when it plays an even bigger role in the solar eclipse that is taking place. Isn't it interesting that the halving takes place next month too? Coincidence? You be the judge. I do know that @edicted has been tying the crypto charts to the moon phases for quite a while now and he seems to be much wiser about this stuff than me!

It is time again for another Finance Friday/Friday Finance. This is a series I started where I talk about random bits of financial stuff that I have seen, gathered, or experienced during the week. I hope as a reader you find it informational, entertaining, or both. I also hope it can generate some good discussion and edify the community.

Farewell CUB

I know there is a lot of strong feelings out there for the CUB project from Leo and the imminent demise of said project. While some might lean more towards anger, I tend to feel more disappointed about the whole thing. First and foremost, I am disappointed in myself. I should have known better, planned better, and just all around been better.

I can blame the bear, I can blame the project, I can blame the team, but I would be way off base if I didn't place a fair share of the blame right at my feet for blindly ignoring one of the key rules of crypto.

Despite all that, I still found it a little bittersweet to send all of those CUB tokens I had accumulated over the years to the burn address. I'd started to close the door on CUB a long time ago, but that final click of the latch hit me a little harder than I expected.

I learned a lot from CUB, and with my wallet empty, and my previous exit plans scrapped, it's time to move on.

COTI

Which brings me to COTI. @cryptoandcoffee has been talking about COTI for a long time now. He is so impressed by it that back during the last bull market, I took a look at it myself and I bought a small amount of tokens to hold. With treasury staking on the horizon, I had a lot of hope that COTI could be a good source of passive income for me.

Unfortunately, due to "restrictions" and KYC, Americans haven't been able to stake to the treasury for the more than year that it has been available. That's lots of time my money wasn't making more money and it was driving me crazy.

As they say, when one door closes, another one opens. Right around the same time the announcement came out for the CUB burn, COTI launched their services on the ETH blockchain. Which means with just a VPN and a wallet like MetaMask, I can now participate in the COTI treasury staking. It isn't as fully functional as their service on the VIPER/Trustchain side of things, but it sounds like the are working on that for the future.

GCOTI staking to multiply my interest rate is what I am most looking forward to.

Either way, my tokens are finally earning instead of just sitting, and that makes me happy.

New Silver

I got an email the other day from KZoo Bullion that they had some of these 2023 Coca Cola 1 Oz. rounds from PAMP in stock. I quickly reached out to @a4xjeeper because I know he likes to collect Coca Cola stuff and we had briefly talked about investing in silver in the past.

He called me up and asked me if I wanted any. It turns out he was going to order some and figured he might be able to hit that $200 shipping limit if I joined in. I told him I was interested in one, but I asked if he was going to order online or visit the store.

His next question was "what store?". I explained to him that they had a physical location in our old town and that I had visited there once. He asked where it was and I gave him the directions.

Fast forward to yesterday, he called me again to let me know he had my round and it turns out he knows the owner of the store. His handyman company did some work for the guy a while ago and he recognized him the minute he walked into the store.

Next time I see him, I will have this delicious little piece of silver in my possession.

Now if only they had a Captain Morgan Spiced Rum 1 oz round to go along with it!

On another note, he isn't active on here, but if he was, I would encourage you to give @a4xjeeper a great big congratulations. He recently completed the acquisition of a large commercial space to create a central location to run his business out of. He admits this is the biggest purchase he has ever made, but he is super excited about the possibilities.

I'm excited for him! Congrats @a4xjeeper! Maybe I can get him to take photos of the process as they renovate it and have him write his first post... Don't hold your breath!
