If you happened to turn your eyes to the sky in North America this week and the Canadian wildfire smoke didn't get in the way, you might have gotten the chance to see Venus and Jupiter "kiss". I snapped this shot on Monday morning as I was heading out to my truck to go to work. By Tuesday morning when I left for work they had "moved" and the one was over top of the other.
I've always been fascinated by the night time sky. I remember as a kid I used to ask for a telescope every year for Christmas. I didn't finally get one until I was well into my 20's and then I used it maybe two or three times before the mounting stand accidentally got broke. I still have the "tube" and the lenses, but sadly it just sits in my garage.
As I indicated, it has been an exciting week. Aside from celestial events, I had an up close and personal encounter with a meteorological event too. @mrsbozz and I were watching our friends kids on Tuesday night and we didn't feel like cooking so I ran out to a local spot about ten minutes away for some take out. I could see the storm coming on my drive there and as I waited inside for our food to be ready, the skies opened up.
With little recourse, I walked the two bags of food out to @mrsbozz's car and pointed the wheels towards home. The rain and the wind were so intense that you could barely see six feet in front of your front bumper. I was no more than a couple miles down the road when my phone started blaring with an emergency alert that there was a tornado warning in my area.
I figured to myself, I am in it now, so there isn't anything else to do but just keep trying to get home. Cars were pulling off to the side of the road, streets were flooding, branches were blowing down, but I kept going (probably faster than I should have) towards home.
The ten minute drive took a good half hour on the way home, but I made it, no worse for wear. At one point the rain was so intense that the sensors on the mirror of the car thought there was a car next to me.
The youngest declared it was one of the best burgers she has ever had, and everyone else scarfed down their food, so I guess it worked out in the end!
Did I mention it was a crazy week? BTC hit a new all time high over $125,000 USD in case you missed it. Yes, it did fall back down as of Thursday, but I think we have more excitement ahead.
I remember folks just a few short months ago saying ETH was dead. With $4700 USD briefly behind us and $5000 on the horizon, I think that may have been a bit premature. I picked up a tiny amount of ETH when it was $2000 because I still had some faith it would recover. There are just too many chains that rely on it. Sure the gas sucks, but I think ETH still has a lot of life.
There were two really big announcements this week for a couple of my "darling" tokens that I have been keeping my eye on. The first comes via COTI who just dropped the news on Thursday that the treasury is accessible now for users from the US. I've been accessing it via a VPN for close to a year now, but this is exciting news.
I haven't tested it out yet, but I am looking forward to being able to manage my funds without the extra step. I just wish they had been able to make this happen sooner. I missed out on a lot of profits simply for living in the US and not having access to the platform.
Once upon a time I was making a regular monthly buy of COTI and I think I held more than @cryptoandcoffee. That certainly isn't the case now as he kept on buying and was able to leverage the treasury to grow his holdings quite significantly. Lucky dog!
While the price of CHEX is a far cry from touching $1 like it was last year, there has been some positive movement lately. This comes via the other big announcement that dropped this week. Chintai has partnered with the ChainLink blockchain to bring cross chain functionality to their RWA token CHEX.
LINK has always been a bit of a sticking point for me. If you have followed it at all, you may have noticed that the fanbase is a bit fanatical. Like more fanatical than most crypto enthusiasts. Whenever I would read the posts on X, it always seemed a bit cultish. It's made it this long though were other projects have failed, so there must be something there.
Hopefully this news is the step towards recovery that the CHEX token needs. Especially after all the FUD from other RWA projects trying to sabotage CHEX. Could the jump from $.09 to $.16 be the catalyst towards even bigger growth for this token?
My favorite nuclear stock SMR has seen a drop from close to $50 down to $40, but it's still up from the $10 per share I paid for it at the IPO launch. I was talking to my brother in law last night and he said SMR was definitely a long term hold for him. Perhaps one day it will be one of those blue chip standards that every portfolio holds in some form or another.
With the holidays right around the corner (no kidding, have you looked at the calendar?), I am starting to think of some silver pieces that I want to pick up. I need to get a few for myself and then I always buy two or three ounces for my nephew/godson. He used to be big into military stuff, but now I think he is more into sports than anything.
I'm looking for some ideas of 1 oz pieces, either rounds or bars that I might be able to pick up for him at spot plus $3-$5. I'm hoping the #silvergoldstackers community can point me in the right direction. What are your favorite affordable sports themed pieces? I'm looking for specific examples here, not just a link to APMEX where I can search on my own.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Still holding all my ETH and some BTC, my other altcoins are doing well as well
Yeah, me too. I know some people have been taking gains, but I am in it for the long term. It needs to be life changing money for me to fully exit again.
Good shot and I did see that! Been enjoying the Persiads here too. !PIMP !WINE !UNI
Lucky! We have had too much cloud cover lately for anything decent be visible. My photo was the one exception!
Wow, I'm glad you and the family were able to escape the storm and enjoy the sweet taste of your brush-of-death burgers. I remember when I was a kid, my family and I were stuck in a traffic jam on a highway down in Florida when 3 water tornados formed about a mile in front of us. It was kind of comical how quickly everyone just started doing U-turns, and even driving in a nearby field to get away.
Oh wow, that definitely sounds scary! I got very lucky. I couldn't see anything besides rain driving into my windshield. If I had been I may have turned around too!
That's some scary weather. At least you got to see the planets meeting up. I sometime hear about these events and have a look. It gives you some perspective on how small we are.
Bitcoin keeps climbing, but I wonder if it will peak soon. There's so much hype about it, but also a lot of scepticism about crypto in general. I see people elsewhere saying it's all crap.
Enjoy your weekend.
Yeah, the FUD machine is still rolling along strong. It's pretty sad. I'm looking forward to seeing Betelgeuse super nova. They say you will be able to see that across several days and even during the day.
Sounds like you had quite the action-packed week—between celestial kisses, wild storms, and wild crypto swings! Glad you made it home safe in that weather, and here’s hoping your tokens and silver picks shine just as bright as Venus and Jupiter.
Thank you! I wish the same to you as well!
I’ve always wanted to see stuff like that but most of the time I only notice the stars when I’m out late. That storm part sounded kinda scary tho, I don’t think I’d stay that calm if my phone started blasting tornado warnings while I was driving 😬.
