I have a feeling it feels a bit like the movie Groundhog Day for my niece as her travel team is heading back to Cleveland this coming weekend for another travel softball tournament. Believe it or not, I've never actually seen the movie, but I get the basic premise of it. Bill Murray's character keeps waking up and experiencing the same day over and over again. Drama and hilarity ensues. It's actually my brother in laws favorite movie, so it is a bit odd that I have never seen it.
Anyway, they are making the two hour drive from Columbus back up to Cleveland this weekend and In a slight change from previous weekends, it actually looks like they will be playing some different teams than they have in the past.
To be honest, that's kid of a relative statement. This team has been playing together for quite some time and in that time, they have faced a variety of different teams. I wouldn't be surprised if the teams this weekend are from organizations they have faced in the past. The other fact is, kids move around quite a bit in travel leagues, so even though they may have faced one girl before, she might be on a new team now.
Then of course you have subs. It's not uncommon for players to sub for other players when they have something like a family vacation or something else going on. I have seen several times where a young lady has a weekend where her travel team is not playing, so she will pick up some games with one of her friends travel teams that are playing that weekend.
I actually think coaches have a sort of little black book of players they know they can call to ask if they want to sub on any given weekend.
I was talking to my brother in law last weekend and he said he had a feeling the schedule for this weekend would end up wildly different from where it starts. With that in mind, my niece has her first game tomorrow at 9:45 AM a against a Steel City Athletics team. Then they have a long break in the afternoon and they don't play again until 3:00 PM against an Ohio Storm Premier team.
Saturday they are slotted for a 3:00 PM game again against a Thunder Elite Premier team. Which leads me to wonder just how many adjectives you can put in front of or behind your team name before it gets to be too many!
Then finally, they have an insane 8:15 PM game on Saturday night against a Indy Crush National team that I believe they have played in the past.
It's possible they will have a game on Sunday as well, but nothing has been set for that yet. The plan right now is for @mrsbozz and I to catch a couple of games in person, but we will see how that works out. Hopefully the weather cooperates!
Good luck with all the plans and good luck to the teams playing. Hopefully the weather cooperates so you guys get to watch the games in person.

What also caught my attention is how flexible the teams in these leagues are from substitutions to short-term loans. It’s like every coach has a secret list of players ready to step in whenever needed.
