Girl on Fire: A Symbol of Resilience and Hope

I’m not sure how I landed on the girlhood safety tips videos on TikTok, but I did. After one video, I landed on the next and the next, all thanks to the algorithm for taking me there, and I was shocked.

I saw several videos on safety tips for ladies, especially ladies living alone. The more videos I watched, the more I realized that so many women are living in constant fear.

It's heartbreaking to see a lot of women scared. We have so many women living with trauma and fear and this can adversely affect their lives and their relationship with people. While men too go through a lot, for this post, I am speaking from a woman’s point of view because I am a woman.

As a lady, you walk around the street or you enter a place you have to be observant and careful to the core. Sometimes, it does feel like we are walking on eggshells but then again one cannot be too careful.

The number of women who have been murdered continues to skyrocket. No matter how we look at it women are easy prey.

Women are built to be soft, emotional, and sensitive as opposed to our male counterparts making it easy for people to take advantage of us.

I finally concluded recently that being a woman is a full-time job. You just have to put so much effort into this job and excel in it.

There won’t always be a knight in shining armor waiting somewhere to come to your rescue when you are in trouble just like we see in cartoons and movies, heck there won’t be a fairy godmother somewhere to wave a wand to kill all the bad guys. In real life, you have to be able to defend yourself.

Even though we women are built to be soft and considered a weaker gender, we shouldn’t conform to societal norms. This song preaches hope and bravery, that we can be women and still do great things.

The world can sometimes be a scary place to live in for women but we should never give up or give into fear, because fear can only hold us back.
