I enjoy different genres of music, depending on my state of mind at a particular time. I’m someone that doesn’t frown at any genre as long as it has good melodies and harmonies but for most of it, good melodies in terms of the lyrics. Yes, I enjoy and vibe to some songs that doesn’t have good lyrics but that is just me lost in the background sounds and maybe a unique something about that song, that the artist has created in his or her song. This could be their voice quality, tone, their expressions and so much more besides the lyrics. So, I’m not immune to liking a song just because of the lyrics alone but that is one major reason I’m easily drawn to a song for a long time.
It’s interesting how I have always been listening to this particular song, my sister even sang it one time for a contest and I remember mumbling the words with her as she always plays it back then but I still didn’t connect with the song as much as I’m connecting with it right now and since today is a day I have taken out to do my song reviews, I have decided to share this beautiful song with us. I fell in love with the song better than the first time I listened to it after a friend posted it on their status recently. Why? It was a video that had the lyrics of the song playing along side as she sang! So you see, the lyrics is what really gets me most of the time.
All these while I have been hearing this song, I have always been missing the part of checking out the lyrics, so I could only relate with just the harmonies but barely with the melodies (lyrics). Anyways, after I watched that video, I remember I have this song on my playlist so I went to give it a listen this time and not just mere hearing. This time, it was too beautiful that I wondered what took me so long to understand this song better. Normally, I have always known this artist to be an amazing artist because her words are always so powerful and something most people can connect with but for some reason, I felt like this particular song wasn’t it and it was fine because I had the notion that “everyone doesn’t have to like you kinda thing”.
All I needed was the right time to appreciate the song better. No wonder they say, “you will understand it better by and by”. Most times we discard things that don’t feel useful at a particular time without trying to understand why they are there in the first place. For me, I didn’t delete the song because it was sang by LAUREN DAIGLE as her words always make a lot of sense and keeps me connected in a way that I appreciate to the things I’m grateful about. So I’m really happy I didn’t delete this one.
This song is titled, THANK GOD I DO and it was sang by Lauren. As some of us already know, Lauren is a gospel artist and she does that so passionately. Like, she is super consistent at what she does and that has made me fall in love with her kind of songs over the years. Most times I’m so grateful for artists like her that speak their hearts through music. It is something that I can’t do and it is my culture to always appreciate the things others do that I can’t.
I don’t know who needs to be reminded of the lyrics in this song today but I’ll share it anyways. Enjoy as you listen to not just the harmonies but the lyrics too.
Until next time, stay tuned. 🌹
