DIE WITH A SMILE

I was scrolling through my music playlist and I realized that every song I have, I downloaded them because of either the lyrics, title, the artist, recommended or it was just me that randomly downloaded it and others that I don’t even know I had because I just asked someone to send me their playlist because they always play songs that resonates well with me. But despite the fact that I have so many songs, I’m someone that still enjoys listening to songs on repeat. I like listening to songs that have captivating melodies and harmonies so I always listen to them on repeat until I get tired and either change it to something else or turn it off until next time.

Music is a voice of its own. I know of a friend who was a stammer, she would always find it hard to say her words at a time but guess what? When it comes to singing the lyrics of a song, she is as fluent as you can imagine. I was moved to ask her why it was so for her, and she said something interesting. She said music is the only thing that helps her express herself fully and she is grateful to God for that. I was a bit emotional that day listening to her stammering as she said all that. Just like her, there are others who have somehow locked themselves away from those around them but when it comes to music, they find themselves just associating well with people.

Well, enough of the too much talking about what music could be to different people. For me, music is one medium of communication. Although the artist might not be present with us singing a particular song, we can still listen to it and make sense of most of what he or she sings. It is my culture these days to share a little thought on some of the songs I listen to and for today, I will be leaving my thoughts on the song titled DIE WITH A SMILE by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars (a mad combo!). So without further ado, let’s get right into it.

I remember the first time I heard this song, it was on TikTok but then I didn’t really paid close attention to it. After some days, a friend mentioned the title of the song and it piqued my interest so I quickly went to search for it and I was surprised to find out it was that same song I heard playing passively the other time. I liked the song after listening to it from the start to the end and I downloaded it. It was on repeat that whole evening as I did everything I needed to do. It was nice so I added it to my favorite playlist.

Die with a smile is a song that gives this old school music vibes which makes it stand out for me. The beginning of the song gave me this rush down my spine, lol. The feeling was nice and I anticipated for more. It is a song that talks about love at its peak although not really at its finest. First of all, let me also talk about the two artists that pulled this song together. They are both amazing artists with great vocals and if you’ve listened to this song before, then you will testify to it all the way! They are super talented and the lyrics goes to show how much showing love might mean to either the both of them or just one of them.

Bruno Mars sets the stage with a melancholic tone “I just woke up from a dream, where you and I had to say goodbye” this lyrics speaks a lot especially if you have someone really dear to you. Just imagine having such a dream when you have to say goodbye to the one you love and cherish the most. Lady Gaga in her own words, “and our love is the only love that is worth fighting for”, shows how much she is willing to fight for the love she has despite the challenges and obstacles.

”If the world was ending I’d wanna be next to you” is a statement that shows the enduring power of love. Despite the challenges and troubles, this love still wants to go on. And then, ”Die with a smile” this sends a message of satisfaction that despite the challenges of their love, they won’t regret it but instead they will die knowing they fought for what they share and they will do that smiling. Such beautiful words. I want you to reminisce on these few words as you listen to the song.
