Homesteading : Join Me Let’s Thresh Our Maize Farm.

Hey guys, it’s been a while I’ve blogged I decided to take a few months for personal reasons. I’ll probably share and talk about that in another post. It feels great to be back, I can’t explain how excited I am blogging again. I have a lot to share with you guys. As you know or most of you know when it about this time of the year, we engage a lot in farming especially harvesting. And as such, I want to share you with you on how we harvested our corn, gathered them and used the corn sheller machine to extract the seeds from the stalk. Come along,!!!

We cultivated about 10 Acres of Maize due to the nature of the area the maize was cultivated, we had to rush quickly and harvest them before they got caught by wild bush fires that were randomly set by people. We used about 2 days of work to harvest the entire farm unfortunately I was able to take pictures of that entire activity because my phone was off. Fortunately for me, i was able to charge it and take snapshots of the threshing and the bagging of the seeds.

We used basins to convey the corn to the machine. Two men were in charge of this activity whiles another man sat on top of the corn sheller and made sure that the corn passed through the inlet of the machine. At the outlet of the machine, where the coin seeds normally come out from, was another man with a corn sack collecting the seeds. So the whole operation run smoothly without any interferences.

After about 2 and half hours of repeated the operation, we had finished threshing the corn and it was not time to sew and bag them. We got about 23 bags of Corn from the 10 Acres. Which wasn’t expected I was actually surprised when we got that number and so was my dad.

It was getting dark so we had to look for a trailer to load the corn and carry them to the warehouse. Conveying them to the warehouse was one hell of a job. I was very tired and I could barely stand and by his grace we were able to complete the mission
