Making a DIY pop-up Hug Card

Hello DIY hubbers, it's been a minute. Seeing your amazing work daily has been such a delight. One minute I think something is impossible to create the next minute I see a Hivean create that same thing like it was a walk in the park and in all honesty it feels good to know that we can do anything in this world as long as we set our mind to do it.

So back to the business of the day😊
I made this DIY pop-up hug card and I still can't get enough of it.

A friend of mine has been going through a rough patch, that was gradually stealing her joy, she moved from being the guffy young lady that I have always known to be all moody and grumpy. I thought to make her this DIY pop-up hug card and I snuck it into her bag before leaving her shop yesterday, it is safe to say that this little gift card made my friend smile and I feel so happy to have made her smile.

I wish she knew how much I love and care about her and this card was just a way to show her that.

To make this DIY pop-up hug card I followed the below steps.

Materials
Blue and white paper
Ruler
Biro
A pair of scissors

Step 1:
I started by neatly folding the white paper into two equal parts.

Step 2:
I drew the outline of my pop-up card (white paper) making sure that both sides look the same.

Step 3:
I proceeded to cut the arm of the outline, I did this carefully so as not to ruin the shape.

Step 4:
After successfully getting the arms, I went on to fold the arms forward and backward this is to aid flexibility, if you don't fold it both ways you might not get a hug if you open the card.

Step 5:
Making sure it was flexible enough, I drew the cartoonish figure boldly.

Step 6:
I went ahead to write what I wanted to write on the card. Afterward, I cut the blue paper into a square shape and I attach the white paper to it.

Step 7
What's a sweet pop-up card without love on it? I cut out some love shapes, applied some gum to them, and placed them on the front of the card to give it a warm feeling.

I put in some finishing touches and Voila! my DIY pop-up hug was ready.

It feels so great to make something this beautiful and to give it to a friend that deserves it.
