Making a Beautiful Lace Dress with Tulle Ruffles And Butterfly Neckline Details

Hello Hive!

Glad to make it in here today, just when I thought the new year would spare me some free time, oh how I thought wrong, because it has been all around the clock busy-ness, since the new year kicked in, I'm grateful, though, but yeah, I still crave that me time, so I could also spare it to some other fun activities I love to do, like hiving, and not sewing all day long everyday.

Today, I will be sharing with you how I made this gorgeous lace dress for a favourite aunt, having gotten this fabric as a gift on her last birthday, she was lost on what to make of it. She didn't worry too much, as she also has her favourite niece, me, to help her with the hassle of choosing a stylish and befitting dress style for her, after receiving the fabric, also considering the comfort I want the dress to give her , we finally decided on making a V neckline straight gown, with riffles made out of tulle on the sleeve ends, also drapping the tulle around the front hip area.

Materials Used

  • Cord lace

  • tulle

  • Zippper

  • matching coloured thread

Cutting And Sewing Process

IMG_20260126_150308_580.jpg

  • I started by cutting the upper side of the dress, using a bustier pattern and V-neck line

  • Then I joined the patterns together

  • The neckline looked plain, so I got creative and made butterflies out of the fabric patterns, which I used to style and elevate the neckline area of the dress.

  • I also cut out the upper side back pattern, and joined the pattern pieces together

IMG_20260126_150420_448.jpg

  • For the lower part of the dress, I used a straight skirt pattern

  • Then joined the upper side to the lower part of the dress, front to front, back to back

  • It was at this point i draped the tulle around the hip area and waist of the front part opof the dress.

  • I also sewed a zipper to the back side for easy wearing

  • For the sleeves, I cut out a basic sleeve pattern, and sewed the ruffled tulle at the sleeve ends. And that completes the making process of the dress IMG_20260128_114354_227.jpg

My aunty absolutely love and was impressed with the final result of her dress as it fits perfectly, giving her a stylish yet comfortable look.

I felt happy to have made her day with this beautiful dress. i hope you love the look too.
