This is a beautiful project I would love to share here.
An emergency dress for a client for thanksgiving.
Miss Dimzee called me very late at night two days ago that she wanted to make a dress for thanksgiving and she counted on me to give her exactly what she envisaged.

Although, I had other jobs to do, I halted them and swung into action for her.

I used the African print fabric, and a plain black crepe to achieve.
Walk with me while I share the process of making this dress. The materials needed were;
African print fabric
Crepe fabric
Airstay
Breast pad
Bonnings (plastic and rigilene)
Eyelets
Thread
Zipper
Shantily net
Pattern paper
Pencil and masking tape
After taking her accurate body measurement, I transferred her measurements onto the pattern paper, drafting her outfit using the Helen Armstrong pattern maker method.

I cut out the pattern after double checking for accuracy.

I transferred the pattern onto the black crepe fabric which I had interfaced for stability.

And at this point, I had already cut everything out. Including the breast pad (warden)

I joined the front bodice together and attached the breast pad to support her natural bust.

I attached the rigilene bonnings first to add structure, after which I added the plastic bonnings for support.
I did the same for the back and attached my silver eyelets to it before fixing the sleeve.

The skirt was a bit technical, it's a mix of pencil and a line with some stylish holes at the hem.

I drafted it out first on the pattern paper.

Here I used my soldering iron to cut out the holes on the African print after allowing to heat for about five minutes.

I used a bias to finish up the circles I created. I joined the front skirt to the back, added my lining and zipper.

I fitted it on my dress form to check for errors, I couldn't find so it was obviously good to go.
I called my client for the actual fitting. When she came in, she was super excited.

Here was her on the thanksgiving Day rocking an outfit I made and that's my pride.

This dress is not just beautiful, it's is gorgeous and elegant and suit her body type.

Images used are mine.
