My Hive Journey So Far

One Year of Hiving landscape_20260319_071347_0000.png

I remember hoping to find something online to get back on after facing a Ponzi scheme issue one time. I knew I was interested in the online world, and so earning from it was a big option. Sadly, I couldn't find reliable options to venture into to actualise this desire. I must say that I've enjoyed a few, which didn't last. Until that Ponzi scheme, I knew it was time for a reset. Nevertheless, I wasn't going to run away from earning online. I just needed to be certain about what I'm getting into.

I've said it, and even recently, how my Hive story isn't complete if I fail to mention the efforts from my friends to have me join Hive. It wasn't a quick jump into the blockchain though. Not because I was doubting it. I could trust what they brought to me, and with much certainty because we've been victims of the online world and other funny platforms that reward little to nothing. I was in a disadvantaged situation, though I wanted to hop in without any delay.

Fast forward a few years, and the discussion resurfaced again. This time, I was the one making an effort to be part of the blockchain. Of course, I got to join. And here I am today, savouring in the goodness and telling my journey so far. It's been about a year and four months since I joined Hive; November, 2024 precisely. I remember well how my friend who was also my onboarder put me through making my first post. The warm welcome from the community was really nice. Not even when I felt like my post wasn't good enough.

Talking about post, my first post on Hive was my Introductory Post, where I shared about myself, what I do, and what I hope to achieve here. I had hoped Hive would benefit me financially, which it did, right from my first post. The post got me a good reward which was a good motivation. But like my friend and onboarder told me, the rewards shouldn't be my only motivation or desire in here. Rather, there was more I could gain, which was growth and connections/relationships.

It started from one community, and then I explored other communities. From all of those communities, I was able to connect with new people and make friends. Engagement was one thing I was readily encouraged to do with, as long as I'm on Hive. Abiding by that helped me get connected to several Hivers, those I wouldn't even expect, who were in another region far from mine on the face of the earth. I can't ignore the growth I saw on Hive. As a writer, and then financially. With regards to writing, it has been wonderful.

My friend told me not to be alarmed by the fact that I might not be a pro in writing, though I'm no novice either. I was already writing, but it felt like more would be demanded on Hive. I came in with the skills I had in writing, but through consistency in writing and engagement with other writers' posts, I saw myself grow inadvertently. This is a big part of my journey as I've seen it influence my writings outside of Hive even. That was some growth for me. I began exploring other frontends as well, and I saw the options available.

One of the things that baffled me was that Hive is a space for several types of content. I saw music, DIY, gaming, photography and more. I was able to explore several of them. I started out writing but later delved into photography which is one of my major interests. As a graphic designer, DIY was a way in with my skills. The diverse options were just nice and captivating. Growth and development were involved in these. Talk about contests too. Through my walk on the blockchain, I've come to realise more about it, and that it wasn't just about dropping posts.

Financially, there has been much gain. I needed a better device which Hive helped me purchase. Today, I'm able to do things better because I have a better device. I've seen myself grow on the blockchain, not even in the way I expected. Perhaps, it's the Hive effect, as I like to call it. The story of My Hive Journey so far, I can't fail to mention bringing in some friends too. I saw the goodness and potential of Hive, so I had to bring in others. Not all joined though. Well, I look forward to more as every day on the blockchain, I see more, understand more and do more.

Happy Anniversary, Hive.
