Like Father Like Son, Their Love for Fishing

One thing I always notice in our family is how children often copy what they see from their parents. That is exactly what happened to my son. His father loves fishing, and now he also enjoys it very much. Kaya nga sabi nila, like father, like son.

My husband usually spends his day off catching fish. Sometimes he uses a fishing spear and goes looking for fish in the river. We are always amazed by his patience and skills. He knows where to look and somehow he can spot fish even when we cannot see them. Recently, he caught a very big fish called toman. It was really huge and everyone in the house was surprised when he brought it home. My hands look really small when I took a photo.

The funny thing is that my husband does not really like eating that kind of fish. Since he does not eat it, we also did not cook it. We decided to give it to one of his friends instead. At least the fish did not go to waste. His friend was very happy to receive it and they were able to enjoy it together.

Meanwhile, my son has his own fishing adventure. Instead of using expensive equipment, he made a simple DIY fishing rod by himself. I was actually impressed because he used only basic materials. For bait, he did not use worms or insects. He only used a small piece of flour dough. Simple lang pero effective pala.

When he checked his fish trap and fishing line, he was very excited. To our surprise, he was able to catch several fish. The smile on his face was priceless. You can see from the pictures how proud and happy he was. It may not be a giant fish like the one his father caught, but for him it was already a big achievement.

As a mother, moments like this make me smile. It is nice seeing my children develop their own hobbies while learning from their parents. Hindi man pareho ang paraan nila ng pangingisda, pareho naman ang saya at excitement na nakukuha nila.
Looking at them, I can really say that some things are passed down not by words but by example. My husband may not realize it, but his love for fishing has already inspired our son. And seeing them both happy doing something they enjoy is more than enough for me. ❤️🎣
