The opening of another school year also marks the beginning of preparation, teamwork, and service inside every school. One of the most-awaited annual activities before the formal opening of classes is Brigada Eskwela. This program brings together teachers, parents, volunteers, and community members with one common goal — to prepare the school for a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment for the learners. Today, I would like to share our meaningful and productive first day of Brigada Eskwela for the School Year 2026-2027 at Buhawen Elementary School.

As early as morning, the school was already filled with energy and excitement. Teachers arrived early, carrying cleaning materials, gardening tools, paintbrushes, and smiles on their faces. Despite the warm weather, everyone was motivated because we knew that our efforts would greatly help our learners once classes officially begin. The school grounds, which had been quiet during the vacation, slowly grew lively again as volunteers and teachers worked hand in hand.

The first activity of the day was the opening program. Our school head warmly welcomed everyone and expressed gratitude to all the volunteers who willingly gave their time and effort to the school. Parents, barangay officials, youth volunteers, and even some former pupils participated in the activity. It was heartwarming to witness the unity and bayanihan spirit among the community's members. Brigada Eskwela truly reflects the Filipino culture of helping one another without expecting anything in return.

After the short program, we immediately started our assigned tasks. Some teachers focused on cleaning the classrooms while others worked on the school surroundings. Inside the classrooms, we swept the floors, dusted the chairs and tables, arranged learning materials, and cleaned the windows to make the rooms brighter and more comfortable for the pupils. Old decorations were removed and replaced with new, colorful classroom displays that would inspire learners as they entered their classrooms.

Meanwhile, some volunteers worked outside by clearing dried leaves, trimming grasses, and cleaning drainage areas around the school. Others repainted classroom walls and repaired broken chairs and armchairs. It was truly amazing to see everyone cooperating and sharing their talents. Even simple tasks became easier through teamwork and cooperation. The laughter and conversations while working made the atmosphere more enjoyable and less tiring.

One of the highlights of our first day was seeing the parents actively participating in the activity. Some mothers helped with cleaning, while fathers assisted with repairing damaged facilities and carrying heavy materials. Their presence reminded us that education is not only the responsibility of teachers but also a partnership between the school and the community. When parents support school activities like Brigada Eskwela, learners become more inspired and motivated to study.

Aside from cleaning and repairs, we also prepared the classrooms to become more learner-friendly and organized. Bulletin boards were arranged properly, instructional materials were prepared, and learning corners were improved. We wanted our pupils to feel excited and comfortable when they returned to school. A clean and organized classroom creates a positive environment that encourages learning and discipline among children.
Despite the physical exhaustion from cleaning and organizing, our hearts were full of happiness and fulfillment. There is something rewarding about seeing the school slowly transform into a more beautiful and welcoming place. Every sweep of the broom, every wiped window, and every repaired chair symbolized our dedication and love for the learners of Buhawen Elementary School.

Brigada Eskwela is more than just a cleaning activity. It is a reminder that education flourishes when people work together. The success of the first day was not only due to the completed tasks but also to the unity, cooperation, and kindness shared by everyone involved. Through this activity, relationships among teachers, parents, and community members become stronger.

As we ended the first day of Brigada Eskwela, we felt tired yet satisfied with what we had accomplished together. There may still be many tasks to complete in the coming days, but the successful start has already shown everyone's commitment to preparing the best learning environment for our pupils.

Indeed, our first day of Brigada Eskwela for School Year 2026-2027 at Buhawen Elementary School was productive, meaningful, and inspiring. It reminded us that when people unite for a good purpose, great things can happen. We look forward to welcoming our learners into a school that is prepared not only with clean classrooms and facilities but also with hearts full of dedication, care, and hope for a successful school year ahead.
