From Scratch to Success: A Victorious Day

Greetings.... Hiverians.

Today is kind of a normal day for me as a student. This week is our exam week, and I am a bit scared—not just about the exams, but also about our project presentation.

But this story is about last Wednesday—how things turned out to be a beautiful and victorious day.

Let me show you how beautiful the weather was and how the sunrise woke my soul. I love the sunrise because it awakens my whole being, making my body feel active and positive for the day.

This is Jade, my classmate. It just happened that we were both very early at school, so I decided to take a selfie with her. I asked her to carry my bag for a while so I could get my key from the office. What’s funny is that we were both staying in a boarding house at the start of March, but during the first week of March we both moved out. So yes, the story goes on. I really had a great day.

During our first subject in the morning, we had our midterm exam in Information Management, which is all about database management. After finishing the exam, we were about to present the updates for our project, particularly the queries and the outputs of our system. Our database is designed for a Sports Equipment and Cultural Arts Supplies Inventory Management System.

FUNNY THING: It just happened that our system had to be created again from scratch. Just last Tuesday, I rebuilt everything from the beginning because our project presentation was scheduled for Wednesday. As the leader, I really did my best to finish everything so we could present our project on time. However, at the end of the morning, when I opened my member’s laptop, the database location was no longer functioning. Fortunately, I had a friend who allowed us to paste our query into her laptop so we could still present it to the class.

VICTORY:
My teacher personally knew that we were really struggling with our system, especially with her corrections. I was indeed struggling. Last Tuesday, we had a Google Classroom meeting where I presented the database to her. I had started everything from scratch, and I couldn’t imagine that I would be able to finish those two major tasks in such a short time because the project had to be presented the next day. It was only by the grace of God that I was able to finish everything, and we were able to present our project.

During our presentation, my teacher said that she would ask my group members instead. She said, “Jessica knows this already, so I don’t need to question you. Instead, I will ask your members about the queries of your group.” I felt relieved. However, I was still the one who explained the queries in general, and I was really thankful.

Before taking this sweet photo of us, my group members were first asked questions by our instructor. After that—yey, victory! We were finally done. Our teacher said "that our group did a good job, especially me as the leader", because we had really been struggling from the beginning. Thankfully, in just one day we were able to finish everything and present it to the class. She also said that we truly understood how our system works.

She even asked the class to give our group a round of applause. Phew, what a wonderful and peaceful day.

In conclusion, I am deeply thankful to God for the knowledge and wisdom He imparted to me, as well as the strength to carry on with this project as a leader. That day felt like a great reward for all the hard work and struggles we went through. Despite the lack of resources, we were still able to finish and present our project successfully. I will forever be grateful for that victory.

To God be the glory.

Thank you for reading, and until next time!
