Bananas? No — Cereal? Yes! Kikoy’s 3-Hour Adventure , His Unforgettable Escape, and The Day He Run Free

It was an ordinary afternoon, the neighborhood was quiet, and a few kids were on the street running after one another until Kikoy, the monkey, which I featured in one of my blogs here on Hive, made his adventure. Tired of life behind the unwanted cage made of bars, he managed to escape and set off on three hours of freedom.

What followed was monkey mayhem - chasing and frightened children, stealing cereal from a mini-store, and turning the quiet street into his personal playground. This blog is about Kikoy's curiosity, the chaos he made, and his short taste of liberty.

It was 3 on a Sunday afternoon when I heard the kids' noise. I listened to some crying while others were shouting. I was curious about the commotion I heard outside and opened the door, but was shocked when I saw the monkey on our doorstep. I immediately called my husband. I was a bit scared because Kikoy looks happy, yet I felt unsafe; it was like any moment he was going to attack me.

The kids went to their homes quickly and closed their doors. The crying and shouting were gone and replaced with the screeching of the monkey. He ran freely along the street, and he climbed from gate to gate, making sudden moves towards passersby as if to attack. Some passersby readied their sticks just in case Kikoy would attack them.

Then he jumped up and down from our car, parked beside our home. He loved his feet on the windshield, sliding and grasping. He even reached the side mirror and looked up at himself as if he checked how he looked with freedom.

Another mischievous thing he did was when he stole a pack of cereal from a mini store of our neighbor. He was so quick and grabbed it in a blink and ran towards the mango tree. he climbed and on the branch he enjoyed the delicious treat. He hopped from branch to branch and became more hyperactive after his pack of cereal.

Men worked together to capture him back but he was so alert and was very quick that they couldn't get him. They bribe him with bananas and bread, but this little guy has become wiser and quicker. He got all those bribes, but still, he never let them capture him and put him back in his cage.

After 3 hours of chasing and running, the owner got him when he wasn't noticed the basin quickly covered his whole body from his back. Kikoy was sad, I know, but I am also pretty sure that he really had fun with his escape and adventure. He then goes back to his unwanted home, but for sure, Kikoy will find a way again and again to escape and run freely in the sweet taste of freedom.

In the end, Kikoy’s escape was a reminder of the unstoppable longing for freedom that lives in all creatures. For three short hours, he tasted the joy of adventure, turning our quiet street into his playground. Though he’s back behind bars, I’m certain his heart still longs for another chance to roam, and who knows—maybe one day, we’ll hear the sound of monkey mayhem again.

That monkey was so mischievous😆. Maybe he want to play with human. But monkeys are good also. I just remembered when my brother-in-law had a monkey and then that monkey likes to eat a lot.
