Two Hours From Farm to Market: Delivering Our Fresh Cabbage Harvest With My Daughter by My Side

Hello everyone,

When I brought my father to our house in the mountain, I did not expect that I would also be busy with my brother’s cabbage harvest.

My brother had just come home from the hospital and was still recovering, but the cabbage was already ready to harvest. Since he could not deliver the cabbage to the market, I decided to help him. My husband stayed behind to watch over my brother, so I was the one who brought the cabbage to the market.

After the workers finished harvesting, we immediately started cleaning and preparing the cabbages. We removed the dirty and damaged leaves, weighed them, and prepared everything for delivery. There were many things to do, but I was happy because this harvest is another blessing for our family.

Thankfully, the price of cabbage is now around ₱80 per kilo or almost 1.5 dollars. It is a good help, especially because my brother is still recovering. We usually harvest cabbage twice a week, so we are grateful that we still have something to sell.

Around 3 PM, we loaded the cabbage into the truck and started our trip to the market. My daughter came with me. For her, it was like another adventure. She was so happy riding at the back of the truck with me.

While traveling, the wind was very strong. The dust from the road also came to us, but we just continued. I looked at my daughter and smiled because she was enjoying the trip. For her, it was simply a fun activity. For me, it was another responsibility that I needed to do.

Honestly, I was already tired. These past days have been very busy because of our family situation, hospital visits, and taking care of my father and brother. But whenever I am with my daughter, somehow my stress and tiredness become lighter.

When we arrived at the market, our cabbage was sold out right away. There were not many cabbages available, so buyers quickly bought ours.

I know our situation is not easy. My brother is still recovering, and we have many things to think about. But I always try to be thankful for the blessings that come our way.

This cabbage harvest may be just another farm activity, but for me, it is a reminder that even during difficult days, God still gives us something to be grateful for.

We just need to continue working, helping each other, and be grateful despite any circumstances.

I really admire how you helped with the cabbage harvest even while your brother is still recovering. It shows how family works together during hard times. I can relate because I also had moments when neighbors helped me while I was sick, and later I gave back in small ways like sharing food with them. It feels tiring when we carry many responsibilities, but at the same time, it is a blessing when we see the results of our effort. I like how you shared the details of cleaning and preparing the cabbages, because it reminds me of times when I also joined in simple tasks at home, like preparing food or helping with errands. Even if the work is heavy, it becomes lighter when we think of the people we are helping. I also understand the joy of seeing something sold out quickly, because it gives relief that the hard work was worth it. Your story about riding with your daughter made me smile, because I also feel less tired when I am with loved ones. It is true that even during busy and stressful days, small blessings remind us to be thankful. I believe that helping each other and staying grateful is what keeps families strong.
