My Sister-in-Law's Favorite Snacks to Cook for Our Farm Planters: Lumpia, Alupi, and Tupig

Beige Playful Photo Collage Moment Recap Scrapbook.png

Yesterday was one of our busiest days here on the farm because it was planting time. Whenever we have people working in the fields, I always make sure they have something delicious to eat during merienda. For me, good food gives extra energy and makes everyone feel appreciated. They feel valued and they always look forward when I offer some work in the farm.

Her two daughters also helped prepare the snacks, and their payment became their school allowance. I was happy to support them.

Since I had an online meeting from 9:30 AM to 12:00 NN, I knew I wouldn't have enough time to prepare the snacks myself. So, I called my sister-in-law and asked if she could make something for our planters.

She's my one-call-away chef... as long as I pay her, of course! That's already our little joke because whenever I need help in the kitchen, she's always willing to lend a hand.

I told her she could decide what to cook because I completely trust her. She's one of the best cooks I know, especially when it comes to snacks and homemade recipes.

She decided to make her favorite lumpia, and honestly, I was already excited because I know how delicious it is. Every time she's the one cooking lumpia, it always becomes everyone's favorite. Even our farm workers and planters enjoy it so much.

She also made alupi, one of her favorite delicacies. I even told her, "Is not that too much work?" But she just laughed and said it was actually easy to make. I don't know how she does it because it looks like it takes so much effort!

As if that wasn't enough, she also insisted on making tupig and grilling it fresh. I couldn't help but laugh because she's always adding something extra to the menu. She get some coconut but for her this is so easy recipe.

Everything worked out perfectly. While I was busy attending my online meeting, they were already preparing and serving the snacks. By the time my meeting ended, everyone had already finished their merienda and happily finished planting.

Before she left, she was already making plans for our next farm merienda. She told me, "Next time, let's make puto... or maybe something else. Just buy the ingredients!" 😂 I guess another cooking adventure is already waiting for us.

I may have been busy with work yesterday, but knowing our hardworking planters enjoyed their merienda made me happy. It's moments like these that remind me that farming is not only about growing crops it's also about caring for the people who help make every harvest possible.

I'm thankful because we prepared more than enough snacks for everyone. Our hardworking planters enjoyed their merienda, and there were still plenty left for my sister-in-law to bring home.

Thank you so much for reading my story. The lead photo was edited in Canva.

Have a nice day!💛
