Happy Birthday to the Old Empire

Hello Hivians and all you beer lovers.

It's Saturday Sunday evening, but it's #beersaturday, and I had a beer with dinner on Saturday, just cba to write this post!! I will get back into the swing of posting on a Saturday, but at the moment it is still a battle posting with any consistency on Hive fullstop!

This was yesterday to celebrate July 4th hehe! An American wife so an excuse for a beer and a spicy burger!

An appropriate beer for Beer Saturday and July 4th!

lol Old Empire, talk about an appropriate beer! Mind you with the elephant on the label you could take it for India..

But first it was cooking time, I had this tucked away in the back of the fridge.

Session beers are just that, meant to drunk by the bucket load when you are having a session as they are shall we say pretty weak! 3.4% ABV I rest my case....

It did mean I could cook up my beefburgers that I had knocked up in the morning!

Guess All the ingredients and I will drop you a HIVE.

I remember grilling burgers and hot dogs and having a galiizion dips and drinks when we lived in the States.

So although no grilling for Mrs T I did knock her up a spicy home made burger!

The Old Session Hen was the label said was far too easily drunk lol!

So it was time to crack open the OLD EMPIRE IPA..

Meanwhile the burgers had cooked, I don't like them overdone and if they a wee bit pink inside then that is fine with me!

Mature Cheddar for me or Sharp as they say in the US and blue cheese for Mrs T!

How did it go with the food ...

Cheers!!!

The Beers ...

First was a Marston's Old Empire IPA with a black label featuring an elephant.
It is an English India Pale Ale brewed with Goldings, Fuggles, and Cascade hops.
The beer has an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 5.7%.

Second was a bottle of Old Session Hen ale, featuring a white and yellow label with black lettering.
The beer has an alcohol content of 3.4% ABV.
It is described as a light, refreshing, and easy-drinking pale ale with tropical fruit and citrus notes. It is brewed by the Morland brewery, which is owned by Greene King

Words courtesy of Gemini... Yep I agree with it...

My Verdict

🍺 ☑️ Beer 1 was great, the Fuggles hops were awesome
🍺 ☑️ Beer 2 was smooth
🍔 ☑️ Beer was tasty af

It really was a very smooth enjoyable combination, and did pack a wee punch.
