Here we are in a new month!
WE have marched into the 400th #beersaturday which is no mean feat.
Congratulations to @detlev and everyone who has participated in the community, and here is to 400 more!
So today to celebrate we shall have a Best!
An old favourite and reliable is Belhaven Best, you know what you are getting with Belhaven Best!
I remember the days over here when you had a pub in or near to the town bus station.
Well we were in St Andrews and I had to visit a particular pub.
The pub in question was ...
The name, the font and the word craic do give it away. It is an Irish pub, or a chain of Irish themed pubs.
It did take a while as the barrel needed changing!
The glass was chunky and heavy at the bottom!
Back in the day that would have done some amount of damage to someone.
It is a Scottish beer from Belhaven Brewery which is down the coast from Edinburgh.
It is not a strong pint, but it is smooth and dependable.
Remember I said about bus stations, well the great thing about this Molly Malone's is that it is only a hop skip and a jump from St Andrews bus station.
Would be fine to stagger from the pub lol.
It was something that I did indeed sip and savour.
There is none today!
So instead is the receipt showing a pint of Belhaven Best cost £4.50!
The best value was the Beefeater gin and tonic for a fiver...
Until we meet again Mr Belhaven Best!
At 3.2% ABV, Belhaven Best is a wonderfully balanced, refreshing and easy drinking smooth session ale.
I tell you what, the way beers get weaker and weaker in the UK it will be pints of water you get at a pub!
Let's get the run down for Belhaven Best from our AI prompt in Gemini with the Belhaven Best site as a source.
I never knew there was a classic Scottish flavour profile! Now I know!!
Belhaven Best is a very popular Scottish ale, and here's a breakdown of its key characteristics:
Brewery Location:
It's brewed at the Belhaven Brewery, located in Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland. Belhaven is known as Scotland's oldest working brewery, with a history dating back to 1719.
I keep meaning to go take a tour... Maybe this year!
Characteristics:
Flavour Profile:
The flavor is generally described as sweet and malty, with prominent toffee and caramel notes derived from the pale and crystal malts used in the brewing process.
Perhaps the fact there is a hint of caramel in there is the reason I have enjoyed a pint of Belhaven Best for a long long time!
I enjoyed it as I always do.
It is creamy and unassuming. You know what you are getting. I have been drinking it for decades and now reading this, it is perhaps no surprise I like it as I love caramel!
Posting about a beer on a Saturday on the Beer Community is Always a fun thing to do....
Cheers 🍻
It's a whole bunch of fun, so check out The #BeerSaturday Challenge - Week 400 from the one and only @detlev.

Best is very smooth. It's also weaker than a lot of lagers asked I cheat sometimes when on a mad night out by drinking that so I don't get as tumshied as the other guys on the 5.5%ers!!
It is smooth and that's a good idea, it's about as strong as a cup of tea compared to the 5.5%ers!

Thank you 🍻
Hehe, Estrella Galicia on the tap among the beers :))
Yeah that is a good beer, I drank quite a few when I lived in Galicia.
That gin n tonic sounded good! Some nice brews there, looks like they tasted great. Too bad the prices are so high at pubs anymore, I guess they want us to all go drink at home! lol
Yeah a good price as Beefeater is a good strength one. Joking aside lots of people do now drink at home and get smashed before going out. It is now becoming how they do in Scandinavia!
I hope they aren't driving! lol Scary thought!

A friend of mine used to say: If I'm going to spend a lot of dollars on beers, I want to scratch myself! With 3° alcohol beers, you have to spend a lot of money to scratch yourself. This one looks good! One question: if the beers are in kegs, are they at room temperature? That is to say, they are not cold? Thank you very much for your answer and a big hug, Ed!
Haha that is so very true, the 3° alcohol beers are like drinking cold tea.
The lagers or light beers are chilled, that taps you can often see condensation on.
You are very welcome for the answer and here is a bear hug Nancy 🤣
It must be wonderful to visit that place and be able to drink those beers that you show us in the company of friends or enjoying a good football game!
Yes it is always fun to go out for a beer, but the price now is crazy.
It looks cool that it's not a strong pint. Don't have food, but it's ok because I'm still full of the double dessert the other day😁😌😌.
Not strong at all! Ah yes and you had your desserts yesterday too 😉
Wow now THAT looks like a solid #beersaturday pint! I really love the glassware too and the malty hue definitely suggests more then 3.5% avb. I could really see pounding a few of those in a session with friends and beer lovers in proper Scottish style!
Thanks for taking us with you!
