Tonight’s intruder? The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 😈. Not just the car in general, the specifically the sound. That guttural earth-shaking roar from it’s supercharged 6.2L Hemi V8 pumping out over 1,000 horsepower on race fuel. I lie there in the dark, eyes wide open , imagining it: a midnight cruise down an empty highway , windows down , foot barely brushing the throttle.

The exhaust note 🔊 starts as a low rumble, like distant thunder rolling in , then cracks into this savage bark –popping and snarling on overrun, spitting flames out the back like Sam angry dragon. It’s not just noise; it’s primal. It vibrates through your chest ,rattles Windows blocks away , and some how makes the night feel alive in a way nothing else does.

Everything about the Demon amuses me endlessly in these moments. The sheer absurdity of a street-legal car that can run quarter-mile in under 9 seconds, lift it’s front wheels off like the line it’s defying gravity and then…you could theoretically drive it to get groceries (though who’d dare?).

I picture pulling up to a deserted stoplight at midnight, the city asleep around me. No cops , no traffic – just me , the Demon , and the open road. A quick burnout for fun , tires screaming, smoke billowing under the streetlights.

Then easing off into a cruise, that supercharger whine layering over the V8 growl like some unholy symphony. It’s ridiculous, over-the-top ,politically incorrect in the best way – and that’s why it cracks me up. In a world full of sensible hybrids and silent EVs, here this final, glorious middle finger from the muscle car era: loud ,fast , unapologetic.

Who needs to sleep when you’ve got a midnight Brain vacation in a Demon 170? One day, maybe. Until then , the sound echoes in my head, and that’s enough to keep the night 🌉 amusing.
