I actually really love this week’s prompt in the Midnight community because it’s one of those questions that sounds simple, but the more you think about it, the more it gets creepy.

If someone called my name at midnight, my honest reaction? I’m not even trying to act brave I’m running. Immediately. No checking, no “who’s there,” nothing. I’m gone.
For real...
This kind of fear didn’t just come from nowhere though. I remember one story from when I was younger, even if I don’t remember every single detail clearly.
One evening, me and about four of my friends were walking back home from school. We were just talking, laughing, normal stuff. Then out of nowhere, we saw someone coming towards us holding a machete.
That moment changed everything. The way we went from relaxed to completely alert was crazy.

You know that kind of situation where your mind starts racing and you’re just hoping nothing bad happens? Yeah, that was exactly it. Thankfully, nothing happened to us, but that experience stuck.
It was around times like that we used to share all sorts of scary stories. One of them was about hearing your name being called at midnight. Someone told a story about a girl who heard her name at night. She kept trying to find out who was calling her, moving closer and closer to the voice. Before anyone knew what was going on, she disappeared.
No trace. Nothing...
Whether the story is true or not, it still messes with your mind.
Even my mom used to warn me seriously: “If you ever hear your name at midnight, don’t answer.” She didn’t joke about it. The way she said it made it feel like one of those rules you just don’t break.
Now, do I believe in ghosts and all those things? I won’t lie, I’ve always said it’s all just stories. But at the same time, I’m not about to test it. Because belief or not, that kind of situation would still scare me.
Imagine the silence of midnight, everywhere quiet, then suddenly you hear your name clearly. No explanation, no one around.
Yeah… I would definitely freak out.
So to answer the question properly if my name gets called at midnight, I’m not responding. I’m not investigating. I’m choosing peace… and safety.
Let the person keep calling once he or she or whatsoever call they go rest.
Thanks for taking your time to read my post hope to see you again @mathewdaddywah
