Midnight Urgency

(edited)

Hello fellow midnight owls. It's been a while since I posted here. Maybe I've been owling too much I couldn't or I wasn't owling enough. That's by the way. I'm glad to be making a post here again, during this quiet and calm night. It's around 5:45 am here. I should be sleeping but no, I'm a midnight owl. Midnight is a lucrative time for me. Well, let's get into the discussion.

What feels urgent only because it's midnight?

As one who works during the night, there's a lot about this time that makes it precious and resourceful to people like us. From the serene nature of the atmosphere, to the inspiration and steadiness of the period, rid of external distractions or interference, it's a very useful time. It's the best time for doing some things for me, because of the advantages it provides. But of course, that's at the detriment of a good night's sleep.

Since nighttime is the most comfortable and lucrative time for some of my activities, there's an urgency attached to it. A practical example is this community. The only time period for posting content here is midnight. I initially planned to make this post some days back, but due to my night schedules and other unforeseen events, it was postponed till today. Thankfully, I still have time to make it. But what of that task, work or job that has to be carried out within a period, without failure of time to deliver?

That's where things get urgent for me. I do some of my tasks during the day. But as I said, midnight hours seem to come with calmness, heightened inspiration and little external distractions. As such, these hours are more preferable for some work, like my graphic design jobs. It then makes the midnight urgent since that's the viable time for some of my tasks. Considering also that the whole midnight period is a little fraction of the twenty-four hours, it has to be well used to finish up necessary tasks and deliver the expected results.

Moreover, one of the reasons that midnight feels urgent was because it was the time I had access to good light. Or a good amount of light, within my comfort and space. This was some time back in life. Then, I would have to make careful and diligent use of the midnight and the provision that came with it, knowing that when it's day, it won't be that easy. That the accessibility to light within my comfort won't be possible for some reason, except otherwise.

When it involves me working using large volume of data, the urgency lies in the midnight hours. Not saying I can't or don't do these during the day, but for good reasons and good measures, midnight seems best, hence the urgency. There's always a better network at night which is something I had to adopt while in school. And then the night bundle I can take advantage of since I would be awake. These things have made me consider midnight with a sense of urgency.
