Why I Became the "Batistuta" of My Class

(edited)

Have your close friends ever given you a name for a particular habit? If your answer to this is a “Yes” then you've got a compatible - that's me. Back then when I'm school, when I was boarding, my friends often called me “Batistuta.” This is because I was most active in the night, the midnight owl, lol. To them, it wasn't nice to call me a “Bat” and since I was one of the best football players then, they decided to name me after this legendary footballer, “Gabriel Batistutaa” but with more emphasis on the “Bat”

Midnight Letters Prompt #13 has gotten me titillated as I now have the chance to discuss my excuses for being that midnight owl (or “bat” they called me).
I began boarding during my final class in school and we had an upcoming certificate exams to write. I had this dream of becoming the best graduating student and to achieve this dream, I felt I had to sacrifice the night dreams. I barely slept during the period of preparation because at night no bells, distraction and dormitory duties.
Reading at night was my greatest excuse for being awake at midnight back then in high school, the reason I got the nickname.

After returning home, I thought distractions would be over and I could then start up my daytime study to have full sleep at night but once I returned home, I was welcomed by a new baby at home. He's a very playful boy who wouldn't let me do anything productive during the day than play with him. During the day, I always have just two options; to play with him or he studies with me (and that means distractions).

He's the reason why I suspend all productive activities to midnight. But luckily for me, very soon his mother will be returning from internship to take up the “daycare” duty which had been placed on me since she left.

Sometimes addiction can be good and sometimes bad. Back then in school, I was addicted to studying and my excellent performances was my reward but nowadays, at midnight, my poor addiction has been eating peanut butter.

So to be honest, it's not only to study that keeps me up till midnight, eating the peanut butter is also part.
Now the question here may be, why eat it at night? We are many in the family and things like bread and peanut butters don't last at home, my only chance to have it to my satisfaction is cutting my share(not stealing) at night. This makes me never to bother about the fate of the remaining food item(s).

There are so many other things that keep me up till midnight but these ones I just discussed are the most occuring excuses. Thanks friends for stopping by. This remains my entry for the midnight letters prompt #13.
