I'm still bullish on Colombian Pesos

As I work more on farming and developing our land, the world continues on its fourth turning. No one really knows how it all will turn out, but what a time to be alive, isn't it?

Still, maybe its a good idea to check our assumptions, before the world falls apart - are we still correctly allocated, properly positioned in the portfolios of our lives, to keep up with the changing times? I have thought long and hard about this, and I think for me, the answer is still "yes".

I use the USDCOP exchange rate chart as a signal for something, we can mostly assume under these short time frames that "ceterus paribus" of many of the underlying dynamics occurs, and this chart more or less tracts the purchasing power of the dollar in Colombia. For those of us that went in on pesos at over 5000 per dollar, we are up quite a bit on this currency trade.

But I don't think I am strictly bearish USA, I think there is plenty of hopeful optimism to be had for the aging empire undergoing upheaval, perhaps even some forms of renewal. But whatever happens, I am still happy to be on the ground in Colombia, with a very nice climate where I grow my own food, know my neighbors and generally would have a very hard time dying of hunger and a very low risk of stray nuclear bombs affecting our water supply.

And I am cautiously optimistic about a multipolar world with more sovereign nodes in the mix.

Many people have recently communicated to me about current events vis-a-vis Donald Trump and Gustavo Petro, the president of Colombia. I have a feeling that they will figure it out, although its always a hard topic to really talk about in casual conversation as the underlying realities of history are so twisted and backwards it can be counterproductive to even enter at certain angles.

But, and in case anyone is wondering, I feel good about where I am at, and what I am doing. Yes the world is changing and there is some uncertainty related to that, but I feel good - and I'm sticking to my previous decisions.

Let it ride.
