Recuerdos de nieve // Snow memories

Hola querido hiver.

Hoy rescato este recuerdo que permanecía en mi archivo fotográfico a la espera de difusión. Quizás alguna de estas imágenes fueron compartidas hace años en alguna de las redes sociales que tengo abandonadas o de las que eliminé mi cuenta. Fueron tomadas en diciembre de 2012, cuando Hive no existía ni en la imaginación de sus creadores, pero me siento más tranquila si hago este aviso.

Me gusta ver la nieve, cómo transforma los paisajes envolviéndolo todo con su manto blanco y transformándolos en postales navideñas. ¿Y qué me dices del placer que da pisarla donde permanece intacta? Ese crujir es una sensación maravillosa.

Tuve que viajar unas dos horas en coche para alcanzar este precioso lugar, los Baños de Panticosa. Merece mucho la pena, como puedes comprobar por la belleza de estas fotos a pesar de su baja calidad.

Alrededor del Ibón de Baños (en Aragón llamamos ibones a los lagos de montaña) se encuentra una gran pradera circundada por altas montañas y con edificios destinados al turismo de balneario. Ya los romanos conocían de las propiedades beneficiosas de estas aguas, aunque los primeros documentos al respecto datan de finales del siglo XIII.

Todavía se conservan algunas de las instalaciones originales del siglo XIX pero en general están en muy mal estado. Lamento no haberlas fotografiado en aquel momento (tomo nota mental de regresar para hacerlo). Los actuales dueños, un grupo inversor, hicieron una reforma que no respetó el paisaje y hubo una gran polémica en su momento, pero era eso o dejar que este sitio quedara en el olvido. Difícil cuestión cuando se necesita dinero, mucho dinero, para rehabilitar y mantener en activo una instalación así.

Ver la extensa superficie del ibón completamente congelada impresiona y dan ganas de probar a caminar / patinar sobre el hielo. Aunque hay carteles que avisan del riesgo, en ciertas partes más accesibles de la orilla pudimos ver huellas de "valientes" que probaron suerte. La mayoría "normal" nos conformamos con tirar alguna piedra o bola de nieve.

En la foto de arriba se ve el estrecho acceso al valle. La carretera que llega hasta ahí suele quedar cortada en cuanto cae nieve copiosa, pues es empinada y con fuertes curvas. Muchas veces los clientes y trabajadores del complejo termal se quedan aislados en invierno.

(¿Viste cómo quedó la nieve posada sobre las estacas de madera? Parece cierto emoji... 🤣)

Por favor, ignora a la modelo. Sale obligada por las circunstancias, no le gusta posar para las fotos, aunque reconoceré que en esta ocasión no tiene tan mala pinta. También tenía doce años menos encima, por eso me da menos vergüenza, jajaja.

Mejor miremos y admiremos a los dos únicos acompañantes que tuvimos durante bastante rato en aquella jornada. Unos valientes que buscaban comida con poca suerte. Se veían bien cuidados, no era para preocuparse. Me encantó verlos tan cerca, los equinos me transmiten una energía muy especial.

En este caso las fotografías fueron tomadas con un teléfono Samsung GT-I9000 y la única edición que he realizado ha sido la mejora automática.

Hi, dear hiver.

Today I am rescuing this memory that remained in my photographic archive awaiting dissemination. Perhaps some of these images were shared years ago on one of the social networks that I have abandoned or from which I deleted my account. They were taken in December 2012, when Hive didn't even exist in the imagination of its creators, but I feel more at ease if I make this announcement.

I love to see the snow, how it transforms landscapes, wrapping everything in its white mantle and transforming them into Christmas postcards. And what about the pleasure of stepping on it where it remains intact? That crunch is a wonderful sensation.

I had to travel about two hours by car to reach this beautiful place, the Baños de Panticosa. It is well worth it, as you can see from the beauty of these photos despite their poor quality.

Around the Ibón de Baños (in Aragón we call mountain lakes ibones) there is a large meadow surrounded by high mountains and with buildings destined for spa tourism. The Romans were already aware of the beneficial properties of these waters, although the first documents on the subject date from the end of the 13th century.

Some of the original 19th century installations are still preserved, but they are in general in a very poor state of conservation. I regret not having photographed them at the time (I make a mental note to return to do so). The current owners, an investment group, did a renovation that did not respect the landscape and there was a big controversy at the time, but it was either that or let the site fall into oblivion. Difficult question when it takes money, a lot of money, to rehabilitate and maintain such a facility.

Seeing the extensive surface of the lake completely frozen is impressive and makes you want to try walking/skating on the ice. Although there are signs warning of the risk, in certain more accessible parts of the bank we could see traces of the ‘brave’ who tried their luck. The ‘normal’ majority of us were content to throw a stone or a snowball.

The photo above shows the narrow access to the valley. The road leading to the valley is usually cut off as soon as heavy snow falls, as it is steep and winding. Often the clients and workers of the spa complex are cut off in winter.

(Did you see the snow on the wooden stakes? It looks like a certain emoji... 🤣)

Please ignore the model. She comes out forced by circumstances, she doesn't like posing for photos, although I'll admit she doesn't look too bad on this occasion. She was also twelve years younger, so I'm less embarrassed, hahaha.

Let's look at and admire the only two companions we had for a long time that day. Brave ones foraging for food with little luck. They looked well cared for, nothing to worry about. I was delighted to see them so close, equines transmit a very special energy to me.

In this case the pictures were taken with a Samsung GT-I9000 phone and the only editing I did was the automatic enhancement.
