pregunta por la Dolores;
que una copla la mató
de vergüenza y sinsabores…
Esta coplilla resume en cuatro versos una historia entre leyenda y realidad que está viva desde hace dos siglos. Algo que décadas atrás avergonzaba no solo a su protagonista, la Dolores, sino a la ciudad que la vio nacer. Ahora, por suerte, se ha redimido su nombre y forma parte del patrimonio cultural del lugar, que la potencia con orgullo y, por qué no decirlo, le saca buenos réditos económicos.
Cuando visité Calatayud aprovechamos para hacer la comida en su restaurante más famoso, el Mesón la Dolores. Está ubicado en uno de los edificios más antiguos de la ciudad y está totalmente decorado como si estuviéramos en la época de la mesonera de leyenda.
Este tipo de lugares con encanto estimulan siempre mi imaginación, que nuestro guía ya se había encargado de alimentar con generosidad. Fue divertido cómo nos relató la historia completa del drama romántico de la Dolores, en verso cual protagonista de una obra shakespeariana. Tener la oportunidad de rememorarla durante nuestro rato de descanso fue un lujo.
Los salones evocaban ese trasiego de gentes clases sociales entremezcladas, los detalles alusivos a la Dolores te rodeaban por todas partes. Hasta la botella de vino está customizada. Tampoco faltaban los cuadros con fotogramas de las películas que se han dedicado a la historia, como este de La Dolores de Florián Rey protagonizada por la gran Concha Piquer.
Ese día fue una jornada muy especial, compartida con mis amigas de la infancia. Hacía décadas que no viajábamos juntas de excursión, como cuando íbamos a la escuela, y así nos sentimos en ese día. El rato de charla sentadas en una de esas mesas fue impagable. Una de mis amigas ha pasado por un año muy duro en temas de salud, de momento y gracias a Dios superado, y esta fue una forma perfecta de celebrarlo y de brindar por más días así.
Para terminar, te dejo una pequeña maravilla en la que se combinan la zarzuela y la danza, con un inconmensurable Miguel Berna bailando a su estilo. Una pieza que ahora que anunció su retirada cobra más valor. Que la disfrutes.

This couplet sums up in four verses a story between legend and reality that has been alive for two centuries. Something that decades ago embarrassed not only its protagonist, Dolores, but also the city where she was born. Now, fortunately, its name has been redeemed and it is part of the cultural heritage of the place, which proudly promotes it and, why not say it, gets good economic returns.
When I visited Calatayud we took the opportunity to have lunch in its most famous restaurant, the Mesón la Dolores. It is located in one of the oldest buildings in the city and is fully decorated as if we were in the time of the legendary innkeeper.
This kind of charming places always stimulate my imagination, which our guide had already generously fed. It was amusing how he told us the whole story of the romantic drama of the Dolores, in verse like the protagonist of a Shakespearian play. To have the opportunity to recall it during our break was a luxury.
The halls evoked the hustle and bustle of people of different social classes, the details alluding to Dolores surrounded you everywhere. Even the wine bottle is customised. There was no lack of pictures with stills from the films that have been dedicated to the story, such as this one of La Dolores by Florián Rey starring the great Concha Piquer.
That day was a very special day, shared with my childhood friends. It had been decades since we had travelled together on an excursion, like when we went to school, and that's how we felt on that day. The time we spent chatting at one of those tables was priceless. One of my friends has had a very tough year health-wise, so far and thankfully overcome, and this was a perfect way to celebrate and to toast to more days like this.
To finish, I leave you with a little marvel in which zarzuela and dance are combined, with an immeasurable Miguel Berna dancing in his own style. A piece that now that he has announced his retirement is even more valuable. Enjoy it.

🙄 Tienes mucha guerra que dar todavía pero haces bien en incluirlo en la lista de lugares por visitar, Calatayud lo merece. No hay horno de leña que yo sepa, y aunque la comida estaba muy buena las reseñas gastronómicas se las dejo a los expertos como una que conocemos, jeje. El bailarín Miguel Ángel Berna me gusta mucho, lástima que ya no lo disfrutaremos más que en vídeo. Gracias por el apoyo, abrazote de vuelta.
Ya veremos la guerra que doy... el caso es que sólo he estado una vez en Calatayud y de paso. Puedo decir que conozco la cafetería de un paradero de autobuses. Espero volver... y no pasar de largo.

El vino era demasiado fuerte para mi gusto, aunque con la comida entraba bien. En esa zona se cultiva sobre todo el tipo de uva garnacha.
Lo que más disfruto de Hive es hacer estos viajes por el mundo conociendo historias y experiencias, así que es un honor haberte descubierto este rincón. 😘

The story you tell is very interesting, although it must be better to hear it within those four blue walls steeped in culture. Sabía que si le dabas al play al vídeo te gustaría, jeje. En mi caso prefiero el baile aunque la zarzuela es un género que no me disgusta. La leyenda de los amores de la Dolores es muy curiosa, al parecer la base real de la muchacha protagonista es solo su nombre y que trabajó de mesonera, pero la fama de sus amoríos fueron fantasía de cierto escritor que la tomó de inspiración.
Hermoso espacio ese mesón. Lo que no conozco es la historia de la mesonera....Y que tal la comida? Sabe a siglos atrás?
Si te intriga la historia puedes leerla en el enlace que dejo en el texto, es bastante curiosa. La comida estaba buena, tienen platos de recetas tradicionales y también modernos. Mi elección fue de los segundos y quedé contenta.

Such a stunning cafeteria, with all of those vibrant colours and its so cool to be able to see the age- the history through the weathered beams and walls, the doors, the box windows and shutters.

This place is very lovely, and the blue exterior paint of the cafeteria really captures that late-sunset cafe vibes by the sea, usually with songs and people chattering about into the night. The feel and look of the furniture and the plants on the railings of terraces vividly encapsulate a memory from a story long ago, completely frozen in time. Beautiful!

Es un lugar precioso y pintorezco, se nota agradable además, me gustan mucho los lugares con historia.
Te habría encantado la visita, entonces. También me apasionan los lugares así, desprenden una energía especial, o al menos a mí me gusta imaginarlos. Las personas que pasaron, las cosas que sucedieron entre esas paredes… soy una romántica empedernida. 😂
