I saw a battle led by Captain Frankie archon. He's a legendary archon airdrop that was obtained from Conflicts. What's special about him is he can transform simple melee units like Frontier card Nim Guard Captain with only one melee attack into an absolute beast with multiple melee power buffs. In today's post, we'll deep dive into Captain Frankie's lore, possible combos and a sample battle.

Lore

Captain Frankie is a pirate dog that threw his lot with Jicarilla the Rime to search for the Secret of Praetoria.

Frankie, an awakened dog and captain of the Saltwraith, runs his ship tight as a sail in a high wind. He reads the chop of the sea and stars in the sky with a skill few can match, trusts rope more than rumor, and ensures there is plenty of booty to spread among his crew after a hard day of pillaging and plundering.

With the help of Captain Frankie and the crew of the Saltwraith, Jicarilla the Rime and her allies scour the coastlines and badlands for the Secret of Praetoria. She conjures towering waves and violent storms, reshaping the land in her relentless pursuit of power.

Stats and Abilities

Captain Frankie is a seven mana, legendary archon of the Life splinter. He's a tactics archon that grants Piercing and True Strike to two units. What makes him broken is he grants the Inspire ability to all Rodentians and Tideborn resulting to stacking of melee buffs. A unit with only one melee attack can end up having as high as seven if conditions are met.

Possible Combos

You'd want to use Rodentian and Tideborn melee units with Captain Frankie to take advantage of the melee buff. Fortunately, there are plenty to choose from including units with Shapeshift ability.

Saltwraith Bulkhead

I've seen this tank paired with Captain Frankie plenty of times and rightly so. Saltwraith Bulkhead is a rare reward card but packs a punch. He starts with four melee attack but increases up to six at max levels. He is fast with four speed and has six armor and eleven health for defense. He's got Armored Strike to add to his offense and Heal to sustain himself as a tank. What holds him back is his Weary debilitation. Later, we'll see a battle with this card and see how devastating he can be.

Skritka

Skritka is a legendary Rodentian from the Escalation set. He does dual damage of three range and four melee. He also has eight health and decent three speed. He's got Charge ability enabling him to attack with melee from afar.

Bren Palesworn

Bren Palesworn is another legendary card with dual attack of two range and three melee. He has the Shapeshift ability enabling him to benefit from the Bloodline ability of Captain Frankie. He has the Sneak ability that allows him to strike with melee from the backline.

Saltwraith Pirate

Saltwraith Pirate is Rodentian with Bloodline Tribute ability. Use this as a tank to further increase all the stats of Rodentians once he gets defeated.

Kervik

Kervik is a legendary reward card that deals five melee damage. He can hit from the back with his Sneak ability and he cannot be attacked because of his Camouflage ability. He also has a support ability, Tank Heal to sustain the team's tank and make it last longer in battle.

There are many more units that combo with Captain Frankie that I will not list here like the Gonach Excavator, Tidal Tsunamist and the units from the Frontier set.

Featured Battle

The battle was in the high level Gold League. Player izouky the Emergent had Captain Frankie as his archon. We will see how broken his Bloodline Dominion buff his in this battle. All his unit have the Inspire ability and look how it buffs his melee units. Saltwraith Bulkhead had eleven melee attack, Skritka with nine, Bren Palesworn had seven and Gonach Excavator with nine. These units can eliminate unshielded enemy units in one hit.

His unlucky enemy chose to fight with magic units led by legendary archon Lorkus. Unfortunately for him, his units can't keep up with izouky team's high damage output. His backline was decimated by Skritka, Bren Palesworn and Gonach Excavator while the front was dealt with by his tank and other units. It was a quick massacre that ended in Round 2 and izouky didn't lose any units.
