Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog! If you have been playing in Silver and Gold League on a budget, then you may consider using the Frontier archons. Initially, I have been seeing the Water archon who grants +1 magic to units in Modern mode. Lately, the other archons have already been showing up and having success competing in Modern.

The Frontier Archons

The Frontier archons are cheap so they're easy to max out. On the other hand, there is a drawback: they can only be maxed at level four for Silver and Gold Leagues. They need six mana which puts you at a disadvantage in low mana battles and they only grant one buff or debuff. However, if used with the right units, they can compete even against legendary archons. Here's a sample battle.

Battle 1

In this battle, players THESPICAN used the Earth archon Aurelia. She grants +1 health to all allied units. The composition of his team is not that expensive too. He had Lioceros at tank who has the Thorns ability along with decent defensive stats. He's followed by Quilliun Legionary, a range tank that also has Thorns along with other abilities like Close Range and Void. The rest of the team was composed of damage dealers.

His enemy had the legendary Elowen Sylphie as archon together with a couple of legendary cards in his team. THESPICAN managed to pull off the victory owing to his higher level units. When you don't spend much on your archon, you can allocate your funds to upgrading your units to make them competitive.

Battle 2

The next battle was an Water magic team of JAVESON against a max level Underboss Fabino. He placed Wailworn Spectre in first position to sacrifice it and grant stats to Mindless Thrall with her Bloodline Tribute ability. Next up is a dual tank combo of Coral Forged and Commander Slade. The rest of his team is composed of magic damage dealers.

His enemy had a max level Underboss Fabino and his units were high level ones. It looks like JAVESON was at a disadvantage but he still managed to win this battle.

Battle 3

The next battle was still JAVESON using the Death archon. His team was not that costly too, mostly composed of reward and Frontier cards. His enemy used Avina of the Wolf archon and had the beefy Dar Gottem Gearnut on tank duties. Gearnut was supported by a tank healer to make him more tanky. JAVESON's Death team still won inspite of the disadvantage proving once again that Frontier archons can compete in the Modern mode.

Final Thoughts

The above battles show that the Frontier archons can compete even at the highest levels of Silver or Gold Leagues. If you have the units and knowledge how to use them and counter the enemy's strategy, then the Frontier archons are a cheap option to play competitively in Splinterlands. Checkout the leaderboards in the Silver or Gold and you will find Frontier archons in battle.
