Splinterlands Frontier: Maxing My Earth Archon

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome to my blog! I'm enjoying playing in the Frontier mode. So much so that I now play in the Frontier more than I do in Modern mode. Any player can play in the Frontier without spending and grow his collection simply by earning daily rewards. Impatient players like me go to the market and buy the cards needed. Recently, I upgraded my Earth archon to max level and also maxed my Time Bandit. I also bought some copies of Water Logged Wizard.

Aurelia

Aurelia is the Earth archon granting a health boost to all allied units. Maxing her means all the units can be used at their maximum levels in battles. Dread Tafarian, Vicious Quilliun and Mad Gearhead gains one health stat after upgrading to maximum level. The other Earth units have not been upgraded yet but I'll get there soon.

Time Bandit

I bought some copies of Time Bandit and upgraded him to max level. The Time Bandit is an important card in Noxious Fumes ruleset as it's the only unit in the Frontier to have the Cleanse ability. It's an ideal partner to Dread Tafarian in this ruleset. Maxing him out also improves his attack making him an offensive threat instead of just a tank. His high health makes him an ideal tank in Keep Your Distance ruleset together with Giam Root.

Water Logged Wizard

I upgraded Water Logged Wizard to level three. She gains the Deflect ability making her an ideal unit in Counterspell ruleset. I'm not keen on buying copies to max her out since she only gains another health stat.

Battles

Here's a quick battle where I shamelessly took advantage of my higher level.

It's a Noxious fumes ruleset for twenty four mana. The ideal combo in this scenario is Dread Tafarian who can heal himself and Time Bandit who has Cleanse. My enemy and I both used the same team but mine had higher stats and easily won.

Another Earth vs Earth battle where I had the advantage.

The ruleset includes Briar Patch so the use of melee units is discouraged. However, the rule also includes Lost Magic so we had to rely on our ranged units. I still used Dread Tafarian in the tank position. I figured his healing can compensate for the Thorns damage he will receive in each attack. In second position I had New Beluroc Aegis to draw attacks away from my tank. In third is Giam Root, a ranged unit but is also a good tank in this situation because of its huge health. It also grants one health stat to all allies due to its Strengthen ability. The rest of my units were composed of ranged damage dealers.

The enemy team also had Earth splinter. The problem was he used a lot of melee units as his damage dealer including Mad Gearhead and a Black Foil Vengeful Monk. These units will suffer from Thorns damage when they attack. He also had Dread Tafarian on tank and New Beluroc Aegis for a Taunt unit. He only had two ranged damage dealers including Giam Root.

I had too many advantages in this battle. I had higher level units and the enemy used too many melee units which will suffer from Thorns damage.

Final Thoughts

The Frontier is supposed to be an entry of beginners to Splinterlands. However it's also a fun mode for veterans like me who like to earn cards daily similar to the Untamed/Dice era when Splinterlands was just beginning to heat up. The Frontier is a fun mode where beginners can play for free and spenders can buy cards for lower cost and still enjoy the game.
