Elowen Sylphie and Endless Ape Combo

I recently came across this powerful combo that is optimal in survival rulesets like Noxious Fumes, Earthquake or Global Warming. The combo focuses less on damage but heavy on survival with the combination of archon buffs and unit's individual ability. The combo is between the archon Elowen Sylphie and Endless Ape. In today's post, we'll examine how their buffs and abilities work seamlessly together especially in survival rulesets.
Elowen Sylphie
Elowen Sylphie is a legendary Earth archon that can also summon Avian and Mundane Beast where she grants the Charge ability. She is also a tactics archon with the ability to grant Resurgence and Trample to two units. Resurgence is a powerful ability that resurrects a unit having the ability with 100% health and armor, plus all buffs are reapplied. This is a very powerful ability in survival rulesets like Noxious Fumes, Earthquake or Global Warming.
Endless Ape
The endless ape is a common Earth card. At maxed levels, it deals four melee damage and has three speed. On defense it has four armor and twelve health. Even though it's just a common card, his utility in survival rulesets is unquestionable as he increases his health each time any unit is defeated thereby increasing his chances of survival.
If given the Resurgence ability then he doubles his survivability and increases the chance of victory in battle.
Featured Battle
In this battle, the ruleset included Collateral Damage which gives the debilitation Reckless to all units. Player MONSTERHEAVEN had Elowen Sylphie as archon. He gave the Trample and Resurgence abilities to Giant Alpine Skink and Endless Ape. The Giant Alpine Skink uses the Trample ability effectively since he deals high melee damage while the Endless Ape benefits mostly from Resurgence since he is only level three with two melee damage.
His enemy had a good team to meet the ruleset. He had Arachne Weaver that has the ability to heal all allied units while sustaining its own health by its Scavenger ability. He also has a couple of units that self heal like the Halfling Refugee and Seadog of Eight. His main damage dealer was the legendary Barashkukor who deals five magic damage. It was a close fight with Endless Ape fighting against two units by round five. He deals less damage than Barashkukor but benefited from his high health.
How to Counter the Combo
What makes Splinterlands fun is not unit or combo is invincible. They work in certain rulesets and increase the chances of winning but that doesn't mean that its a sure win. Any effective combo can still be countered and lose against a team with better synergy. In this case, you have to have a team that deals a lot of damage. The high damage will offset the Endless Ape's high health and Resurgence ability.
My magic damage dealers in the back have high attacks that eliminated the enemy units quickly.
Even with Resurgence, my team does thirteen damage per round that easily took out the Endless Ape's huge twenty one health.
