Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog! Dual tank combos is one of my strategies. I often use Coral Forged and Commander Slade in Water while in Fire I use Drybone Megalodon and Molten Elemental. Sometimes I use Ulundin Overseer in the first position but it has no attack. With the arrival of neutral card Doomshield Warden, it gave my one more option to play in the first position.

Lore

Doomshield Wardens are tank defenders. Holding the door of key strategic positions.

The Doomshield wardens are heavy infantry of the Order of the Silver Shield. During the rebellion, they held impossible positions. Doorways, bridges, and choke points where legions broke against them.

When time started fracturing in the Pristine Northwest, the wardens strapped on their armor and marched north. Now they fight in the temporal chaos. Palifala's magic washes over them constantly. Some wardens move slower, caught in time pockets. Others move faster, their hammers blurring. When they reach the enemy line, skulls break the same way.

Stats and Abilities

At maxed level, the Doomshield Warden is an excellent tank, combining offense and defense. He deals seven melee damage and has decent three speed. On defense he has nine armor and eleven health. He has the Flank ability, allowing another melee tank to play in second position and attack from there. His offensive abilities are great. He has Relentless Strike that his attacks may ignore armor and True Strike that ensures that his attacks cannot be dodged. On defense, he has Void Armor to block magic attacks.

For Silver and Gold Leagues, I think level three is good enough where he gains the Relentless Strike ability. On the other hand, you may opt to upgrade him to five to increase his attack.

Combos and Rulesets

Since he's a neutral card, he can be paired with all splinters. I usually use him with Water splinter's Commander Slade or Fire splinter's Molten Elemental in second position. Blue Wyrm Travesty who I posted about yesterday is another possible pairing if the mana cap allows it. There are several tanks out there able to be paired with Doomshield Warden.

He will shine in Up Close & Personal where only melee units are allowed. His superior melee damage and high defensive stats will enable him to go head on even with other top tanks in the game. He will be a good tank against magic heavy enemy teams because of his Void Armor ability.

Featured Battle

This was a high mana battle with Rise of the Commons ruleset. It was a perfect opportunity to use Doomshield Warden and Commander Slade combo. I had the Frontier water archon Marlai Singariel. Together with my two tank combo, I followed it with magic units Torrent Sniper, Arcane Skinwalker and Mindless Thrall. I recently upgraded my Mindless Thrall to three giving him an additional attack. To complete my lineup, I had Surgeblade in last position.

The enemy had the legendary Dragon archon Sheng Xiao and he used Earth units with it. He also had a dual tank combo but mine had higher stats overall. Also, my damage dealers had higher attacks giving me the advantage in this battle.

Final Thoughts

The Doomshield Warden is a decent tank if you're playing in the Silver and Gold Leagues on a tight budget. It may not have the abilities of higher rarity tanks but it makes up for it by sheer damage potential. I intend to level up mine to three just like the Blue Wyrm Travesty I posted yesterday. This will allow him to gain another ability that will be good enough for my league.
