IDEOLOGY (FULFILLING THE GOSPEL)[LESSONS FROM BROTHER ELI'S TEACHING]

One thing I value about the gospel of Christ is how complete it is, encompassing across all works of life and teaching us the role we need to play at every aspect of our life. Brother Eli highlighted some good points to note in his teaching about ideology (Part 3). Learning from part 1 that we draw our ideology from the Bible as Christians, this time he went on to explain some of the precepts the Bible has set for us to follow. These precepts are what we must abide by as true soldiers of Christ regardless of what the world thinks. The Bible being able to share the mind of God to us makes it a valid truth to draw our ideologies and way of life.

Brother Eli started by emphasizing on how everyone in every sphere of life has a teaching in the Bible for them. From children to adults in every work of life. Ephesians 5:23-25 says…

For the husband is head of the wife, as Christ is head of the church, Himself being the Savior of the body.
But as the church is subject to Christ, so also wives should be subject to their husbands in everything [respecting both their position as protector and their responsibility to God as head of the house].
Husbands, love your wives [seek the highest good for her and surround her with a caring, unselfish love], just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her. (AMP)

From here, we can see what the scripture says about family. If we must learn or adopt any ideology at all about family it should be what is written in the Bible because it is the mind of God. And that is why brother Eli made emphasis on these scripture explaining to us the role of every member of the house. It is the role of the man to love his wife and provide for his family, it is the role of the woman to submit to her own husband and it is the role of the children to obey their parents as seen in Ephesians 6:1. The Bible also emphasized on how a man should love his wife by comparing it to how Christ loves the church and gave his life. This shows how mandatory it is for everyone to perform their role as stated in the Bible.

1 Timothy 3:5

for if a man does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of the church of God?

Brother Eli made me understand that the role of every member of the house is part of the gospel of Christ. For example, the man is in charge of his family (wife and children) as Christ is to the church. The man must take that role and responsibility very seriously if he wishes to fulfill God's will and live happily. And if a man refuses to do this, the Bible calls him worse than an infidel which is quite a great curse because he has actually sinned as seen in 1 Timothy 5:8. Brother Eli said something striking at this point, he said “The system or belief of the faith must be based on the gospel, and the gospel teaches a man to care and provide for his own house.”

Just like it is for the man, so it is for the woman and the children and for presidents and those in government and in all works of life. This means that whatever we are looking for in terms of knowledge, attitude and character is in the scriptures and we just need to continue living by it as Christians.
