I believe that if any finance book promises that it will make you more money or improve your performance in the financial market, there is a greater chance that the book will be bad. In the book "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham, there is no such promise, being a book more about concepts and lessons that are fundamental for anyone who has contact with finance in general, not just investors.

The Book serves beyond what it proposes because it brings several concepts that can be migrated to other areas, such as the issue of acting like a realistic person, using the Margin of Safety in both analyses, comparison between loss of gains and the best is the duality of defensive and offensive approach, all of which are concepts that will help you in finance, but can easily be transported to any other area. The Intelligent Investor, in addition to the name of the book, is also a way of behaving as an investor. The book comments on being a realist, not deluding yourself with big promises. The lower the investor pays for a good asset, the better, because the greater his margin will be in the event of a fall and the greater the gain will be as well. Acredito que se algum livro de finanças tiver a promessa de que fará com que você consiga mais dinheiro ou melhore seu desempenho frente ao mercado financeiro, é uma maior chance de que o livro seja ruim. Um realista vende para os otimistas, que compram as grandes ideias dos projetos de que tudo vai dar certo, o que geralmente é difícil de acontecer porque há todo um cenário em volta e imprevistos, que não são considerados. Além disso, ele também se prepara para oportunidades e compra dos pessimistas. Um Investidor Inteligente vai analisar um projeto e esperar um momento de baixa em que todos se desesperam para vender, para realizar uma compra.

Uma das principais ferramentas que um Investidor Inteligente tem no seu "Kit" é chamado de Margem de Segurança. Esse é um conceito que nos diz alerta sobre o valor de um ativo, para não pagar muito caro, por mais que possa parecer um investimento bom. Quanto menor, o investidor pagar por um bom ativo, melhor, porque maior será a sua margem para o caso de uma queda e maior será o ganho também. Aproveitando o gancho sobre "ganhos", um Investidor Inteligente tem o conhecimento de que mais importante do que um grande retorno, ele precisa tomar cuidado com a segurança do capital investido, já que se você perde 95% do seu dinheiro, é necessário para voltar ao capital inicial, uma subida de 1900%.
