Good afternoon buzzers! Happy Saturday! Well, as the title suggests, we're talking procrastination! I mean, have you ever procrastinated so much you've procrastinated on procrastinating?
I've been fine-tuning the skill for a long time now, and I can safely say I'm a pro! I mean, I read somewhere you need to do 10,000 hours of something before you truly master it. (Was that the correct number? Let me AI that!). So, according to Gemini, my current AI go-to, the 10,000-hour rule is widely debated, but comes from some research into professionals doing 10,000 hours of 'deliberate' practice of a skill. Can procrastination ever be 'deliberate' or does that go against the procrastination principle?
So, according to AI, one can't practice procrastination as they are incompatible with each other, much like a sloth that buzzes, I guess? That's what we do at Sloth Buzz: we defy the norms, we bring the buzz to the sloths and procrastinate on procrastination!
Oddly enough, I came to this talking point after thinking about writing a post; then I thought I could just play some games to kill the time instead. You know, good old self-sabotage with a hint of instant gratification and hours of regret. However, my gaming machine (Steam Deck) was in my bag beside my laptop. And the thing that mostly put me off writing the blog was getting up to get my laptop. I know, seven steps too far from the ouch to my bag! The funny thing is I walked past it several times on the way to the kitchen for coffee and snacks....It's a weird frame of mind where this happens? Is it just me? Or do others have a similar experience?
I recently downloaded '[Habitica(https://habitica.com/static/home)' again, it somewhat makes me more productive, pushes me back into the 'Just do it' frame of mind and gets me doing a little more. Funnily enough, one of my 'habits' I've added to the app is simply opening it. That's how much encouragement it takes for a sloth to stop slothing. I need to reward myself simply for opening the app, which is supposed to stop me slothin!
Image creation time, brain goes
I've had another thought! I'm currently watching 'Heads of State'. As was my effort to procrastinate this morning, avoiding gaming and laptopping! The villain's face is very familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. Turns out it's Viserys from House of the Dragon!
See, the sloth brain just doesn't allow focus, most of the time! I need to work on my strategies for staying on point, I couldn't even watch a full film without procrastinating away from that and back to the original task I was procrastinating from in the first place! Maybe that's the key: procrastinate enough that the only way to break the procrastination is to procrastinate on the procrastination of procrastinating?
That's a mouthful but it seems to be making the sloth buzz!
Until next time,
Sloth out!
