Lamp Shadows, Fond Memories || SMASh Contest #413

It’s a calm morning over here. The weather feels really cool, with dewdrops present on the leaves outside my window. My only wish for this week is to experience ease in everything I do. From writing and publishing my posts to working to making time for my hobbies and loved ones, I hope I find ease through it all.

Anyway, I just realized I haven’t published a shadow entry in a while, so yesterday, I challenged myself to find an interesting shadow for this week. Thankfully, it didn’t take long to spot a cute, simple reading lamp on my sister’s table.

Photographing it was tricky because the shadow of my body, from my head to the waist, kept reflecting beside the lamp no matter how far I moved. I took multiple shots before I eventually captured these ones rightly.

I think what I love about these shadows is that they remind me of a time when we used traditional lamps to read every night because cute personal table lamps like this weren’t common and affordable. In fact, we only had a small hand torch and my dad's big security lamp. See how far times have changed! Editing the colour to reflect a sense of the past made these images more special to me.

The most interesting part?

Different light sources from my sister’s room created multiple shadows of the lamp. It’s one of the most fascinating things I’ve seen in a while. I even read up a bit on the theory behind it, and boy! There’s so much to learn!
