That night after coaching, my children walked home with me. The road was calm and peaceful, just the way I liked it, and the streetlights stretched our shadows across the ground. Suddenly, my daughter froze and clutched my hand. "Mummy, black monsters are following us!" she cried, running into my arms.

I quickly carried her and turned around, scanning the road. There was nothing behind us. Confused, I asked her where she saw them. She pointed to the ground and said, "Mummy, see!"

That was when I noticed it—our shadows. Three tall, dark figures moving with us. For a brief moment, I smiled at her innocence and how real it all seemed in her eyes. Before I could actually explain, my son began shaping animals with his hands, transforming the "monsters" into playful forms. My daughter's fear melted immediately into excitement and calm as she joined him in the contagious fun.

Here, my son said he was creating a dinosaur 🦖, and my daughter said her dragon🐉 is going to swallow his dinosaur. So, she moved closer to pretend to swallow it.

Here, my son said he made a rabbit with two long ears, while my daughter just copied him🐇.

Here my son said he was making a butterfly with beautiful wings🦋, and my daughter just copied her brother.

Soon, laughter replaced panic as they made hilarious creatures, all dancing in the light. The quiet road became our little playground, filled with imagination and joy. I stood there, laughing until my cheeks hurt, grateful for such a simple, magical moment that turned fear into fun.
