It’s the first day in 2025, and as expected, stepping into the new year often comes with the excitement of setting new goals and aspirations. However, this year, I’ve decided to approach things differently. Unlike last year, when I overwhelmed myself with an unrealistic list of goals, this time, I want to focus on a few achievable resolutions that will genuinely make a difference in my life.
1.Working on My Anger Issues
One of my biggest personal struggles has been managing my anger. I tend to get upset easily, especially when someone provokes me or steps on my toes. Unfortunately, this habit has done more harm than good. It has strained some of my relationships, as my anger often leads me to say things that are hurtful, disrespectful, or outright abusive.
Looking back, I’ve realized how much damage my words can do in the heat of the moment. While I’ve already started working on this since last year—choosing to stay calm and walking away from situations that could escalate—I know there’s still a lot of room for improvement. My goal this year is to take it a step further by practicing patience, staying mindful of my reactions, and learning to communicate more constructively even when I’m upset. It’s not going to be easy, but I believe consistent effort will help me build healthier relationships and grow emotionally.
2.Building My Confidence
Another area I really want to work on is my confidence. I often find myself shying away from situations where I should be bold and assertive. One moment that really made me want to actually work more on this, was during my project defense last year. When I was called up to present, I felt nervous and insecure, and it affected my performance in ways I regret.
This year, I want to focus on developing my self-confidence. I plan to practice speaking up more, taking on small challenges that push me out of my comfort zone, and reminding myself of my capabilities. I know not having confidence can be a very big issue and i am aware confidence isn’t built overnight, but with gradual steps, I’m sure I can become more assured in my abilities.
3.Prioritizing My Studies
Academically, I must admit I didn’t give my best last semester. I got too caught up in distractions and spent more time playing around than reading my books. With graduation that would be happening next year, I’ve come to realize how important it is to put in the necessary effort.
This year, I’m determined to take my studies more seriously. I plan to create a study schedule, avoid unnecessary distractions, and make better use of my time. My goal is to graduate with excellent grades, and I know that will only happen if I stay committed and focused throughout the year spent in school.
4.Saving for a New Laptop.
Finally, I’ve set a financial goal for myself: saving enough money to buy a new laptop. I am at point where i desperately need a laptop and don't even have one to myself. The other one i was making use of has got spoil so this year, I want to be more intentional about saving money, cutting back on unnecessary expenses, and setting aside a portion of whatever income I earn to reach this goal. It might take a bit of discipline, but I know it’s achievable if I stay consistent. After saving up some money then i can inform my parents and then they could be willing to also help me add a substantial amount.
In summary, my resolutions for this year aren’t just about ticking off a list but rather about personal growth and improvement in areas that matter most to me. By managing my anger, building my confidence, prioritizing my studies, and saving for a new laptop, I hope to end 2025 as a better version of myself. i believe It’s all about progress, not perfection, and I’m ready to take it one step at a time.
