I have been a member of this community for a long time now, and honestly, it has been doing pretty well. The weekly contests are always engaging, and I love how structured everything is. It’s clear that a lot of effort goes into making things run smoothly, and I appreciate that. It’s not just about the contests for me though, but also the general organization of the community, which keeps things active and encourages participation.
I recently just found out that the community has a Discord server, so I joined, and I think it’s a great addition. However, I feel like it could be even be more useful with a dedicated section for weekly contests and then the community should encourage more people to submit thier posts on the discord channel. Right now, we are always asked to submit our contest entries in the comment section which isn't actually bad. But then i feel like when we suggest that more people drop their posts there, it would make a lot of people on the platform join the channel. Also, with a specific channel for contest entries, everything would be in one place, making it easier to find and support each other’s work. It would also encourage engagement beyond just posting and moving on. People would be more likely to check out other members’ posts, leave comments, and even vote on content when everything is accessible in a single place.
I know the community already rewards the authors of the week, which is great. But it would be even better if there was also a way to recognize those who leave the best comments. Maybe something like an upvote, a small reward or even a shoutout at the end of the week for the most thoughtful and engaging comments. That way, people would be encouraged to comment more, not just for the sake of it, but to actually add value to discussions. It would even make engagement more meaningful and help build stronger connections within the community.
Also, since this community is all about charity and giving, there could also be a thing where members are adviced to give out their hive tokens or even a gift to others—kind of like a giveaway, but with a deeper purpose. It wouldn’t just be about handing out tokens or giving out gifts; it would be a way for everyone to support each other, strengthen relationships, and even encourage the habit of giving. Little things like this can make a big difference, not just in the community but also in people’s mindset about generosity.
Now, aside from what happens within Hive, I also think promoting the community on external platforms could help it grow and attract more people.
Encouraging members to share their posts, contest announcements, or general community updates on platforms like Twitter (x) or even Facebook with specific tags can actually make more people become aware of not just the community ; but also the hive platform in general. Many people outside Hive might be interested in what the community offers but don’t know about it yet. Maybe the community could even introduce small incentives for those who actively promote it outside of Hive. This could be as simple as giving shoutouts to members who regularly share content or even offer small rewards to those who bring in new, active participants.
This is actually just more like what that the Hive learners community do every week. For instance, i once promoted one of my posts on my X account and i was tagged by the community as the "influencer of the week" and was given one pandaminer as a reward. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to compare both communities but then i do believe that involving in these kind of things will actually help the community grow even more.
Overall, I don’t really have any complaints because things are already in good shape. But then I truly believe that making these small changes could take the community to the next level.
Thanks for reading.
