Hive-Reachout Weekly Prompt 47//What Kind of Marriage do I Prefer?

Marriage is a union between two people who agree to live together, love each other, cherish and support one another. Different cultures and traditions, different religions have their own ways of marriage, each with their own beliefs and customs but among the different types of marriage that people practice, I prefer the Christian type of marriage.

I believe that the Christian marriage is not just an agreement between a man and a woman but a covenant, a holy promise made before God and people. The man and the woman promise each other before God and people that they are not going to path until death. The Bible teaches that God created marriage as a special relationship where a man and a woman become one flesh. This means they share the joy, pain, success, and challenges of life together. The Christian marriage is not just physical or legal but it's spiritual.

I believe that the Christian marriage is more fulfilling form of marriage because it is built on values, spiritual foundation, guided by the word of God, and focused on love and life-long commitment.

The Bible describes love as patient, kind, and forgiving. In a Christian home, both husband and wife are expected to love each other in the way Christ loves the Church. It goes beyond physical attraction or the material things but about caring for each other’s needs, forgiving mistakes, and growing together in peace, love, joy and harmony.

Forgiveness is important part of Christian marriage. It believes that no one is perfect, and there will be times when a husband or wife will make mistakes. But instead allowing anger or the mistake to destroy the marriage, Christian couples are taught to forgive, just as God forgives us.

If you look at other types of marriage like the court marriage, the couple are bond by law. If one partner decides to live in the marriage, he or she can take legal action. Instead of trying to solve issues and forgive eachother, they decide to go for a legal action like divorce.

In such legal action (divorce), properties that one partner may have acquired and build even before getting married will be shared equally with the other partner that doesn't even know how his/her partner labour to acquire such properties, child or children custody will become an issue, children will be separated from their parents, only time to time will they have access to see their children or support them after separation or divorce.
Some persons have used the privilege of court marriage for their selfish reasons especially in the western world to get wealth from their partner.

Someone may just wake up one day and decides to end a marriage, giving flimsy excuses to back up their actions, and the other may have not choice but to agree to end the marriage, but that is not done in the Christian marriage. You don't just wake up and decides to end the marriage. Christian teachings help husbands and wives treat each other well, take care of their children, and support one another in every part of life.

Christian marriage provide support. Churches provide marriage counseling, prayers, and fellowship with other couples. This kind of support system helps couples overcome challenges and stay strong in their relationship.

I believe that when marriage is done in God’s way, it brings true happiness, peace and lasting joy. That is why Christian marriage is the best choice for me.
