Almost everything today needs money. Should I say this is a good or disturbing thing? Anyway, the reality is that the above statement about money being a necessity and involved in almost everything holds true. The reason we do many things or work is to make money, and spend it on varying needs and wants. This could be corporately or personally. The thing is, money is invariably a major influence in our world, especially today's world where everything seems to speak money.
Having money benefits in many ways. You can get what you need or want, and many other things; travel and explore the world, build empires, purchase luxurious cars and several other things to mention. Even the work of charity requires money in some way. Who doesn't want to make this money? As much as I don't like to make money seem like all that matters in life-because when it's considered and treated that way, people can go to any length to get it-I still reckon it's a valuable need.
The other side of not having money is the case of the majority of humanity, leading many to enter into depression, trauma, other painful experiences and even social vices. It's not actually a statement to support such individuals’ actions, it's rather stating the obvious, from what I see here in my part of the world at least. But let's say this money that people clamour and work hard for has some sort of expiration period regarding its use; say, after twenty-four hours, any money unused expires and becomes useless.
This is quite something to give thought to, considering that very rare products in real life can fit into this narrative. But we're talking of money itself. Well, it's something to imagine. In the event of something like that, I think money would lose its value, somehow. That would mean no savings, little to no investment and money becomes only for immediate use. Certainly, this will affect economic activities. Who would want to take your money when they know it would expire in their hands? Just thinking.
This draws my mind to some time ago here in my country when there was cash scarcity. What led to the situation was the initial cancellation of the use of old currency notes, and no flow of it from financial institutions like banks. Money that wasn't new currency was rejected. People had money but couldn't spend it. I feel it looks similar to this situation, in a way though. And from my experience during that period, money lost its credibility; you have money you can't spend. Or in this case, the money gets little to no desired use, because you would want to waste it, rather than spend it.
For me, I might just end up dashing out the money or spending it in some way. Or, I would use that opportunity to get some things I really need and/or would need later. Better still, I would use it to buy imperishable things, that I could sell later. I would probably use the money to also buy books and other things that will build me holistically. Yes, this could be my response in such a situation. If financial investment won't work, then I would channel it to mental, physical, intellectual and personal development. That's if they're willing to take my money.
