It's said that health is wealth. What happens when such wealth is lost; when we fall sick? We need medications to return the body to its normal state. At least, health science taught us this basic knowledge in school. The work of science in providing solutions to health issues through the provision of medications that help fight illnesses remains something to be grateful for. Due to one reason or another, we fall sick, and the way to recover our health is by undergoing treatment through the aid of medications.

When we talk of medications, the modern, scientifically provided medications are well known, recognised and always perceived. But then, there are local means to proferring solutions to health concerns. For a place like mine, this isn't something new or unknown. Even though we've accepted, adapted and almost always recognise and run to modern medications, the traditional means are not obsolete. In fact, they are very much active, and even more as the first and preferred choice of many today.
When it comes to medications, here especially, people have preferences based on what works for them. Maybe before we discard a person's choice, we should consider what they had good access to, and what also worked for them. The reason some people have traditional medication as a preference owes much to the premise that this means could have served them more and better, where the modern one must have failed them; from their experiences and perceptions, at least.
If herbal or traditional means solve health issues, without any form of side effect, it means it's viable. Come to think of it, some of the modern have their resources or raw materials from herbs and natural elements that make up traditional treatment. When it goes beyond the use of nature and herbs alone, then I have a big issue with such traditional medication. All that said, I can't really point to one as a preference. Whatever serves best for the intended purpose is good.

I've seen situations where traditional medications served, whereas modern one didn't actually do much. I've also seen modern medications serve well, without the need to go with the traditional option. I mainly go with modern medications. It's easier to prescribe, get and take. Traditional medication often takes time and processes. This is because it isn't usually ready-made and kept or preserved. It could involve gathering the herbs or whatever is needed, then processing it; boiling or grinding and then taking.
Traditional medication is mostly a necessary resort or option when modern medication doesn't work. However, I know of some situations where the health issue involved is a condition that patients are mostly advised to consider traditional medication as the option over modern ones. The reason for that is mostly that modern medications won't really help or will do little to nothing. It worked for many. And considering all this, I'll say both work for me. Though I might resort to the modern one first in most cases.
