Hello, Hivemates!
It’s been a few days since I last posted here, and believe me—I really missed you all, especially sharing stories in this wonderful community.
Today, I want to tell you about a heartfelt celebration: my older sister, or as we lovingly call her, Ate, just turned 20 years old. And we made sure to celebrate it with overflowing love at Penong’s Restaurant.
Turning 20 feels like standing at the edge of childhood, peeking into real adulthood. It’s that age where you're no longer considered a teenager, but not quite a full-grown adult either. And to be honest, it's terrifying and beautiful all at once. You’re expected to have things figured out—but inside, you still feel like you’re learning to stand on your own. For her, I know it's a strange mix of excitement, fear, and hope.
This celebration was planned in advance. We picked Penong’s because, honestly, it’s affordable and the food is amazing. With just $40, we were able to enjoy a full meal with family, and we even had leftovers to bring home. That says a lot in today’s economy, right?
My sister is currently in college, pursuing Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She’s now in her third year, just one year away from marching across that stage and finally graduating—a moment we’ve all been waiting for. She's not just a student; she’s a silent warrior. Quiet, but incredibly strong. Independent. Selfless. Always putting others before herself.
She never asks for anything, yet she’s always the first to give. That’s what amazes me most. I used to wonder why she doesn't seem to react much when life gets heavy. And one day, I asked her. She smiled and said, “Whatever hardship I go through, I face it with courage. Every struggle is just another step toward growth.” That moment hit me hard.
How can someone be so soft yet so strong? How can someone be carrying so much—but still show up with a smile?
She inspires me every single day.
She’s my role model.
She’s my safe place.
She’s my hope.
And honestly? She’s one of the biggest reasons I keep going.
As she turns 20 today, I gave her one simple gift: a prayer.
I prayed for her peace—for those quiet days when life gets too heavy.
I prayed for her courage—to face the coming years with even more strength.
And most of all, I prayed that life will give back the love she’s always poured into others.
Because someone like her? She deserves the world.
If you’ve got someone like my sister in your life—someone who quietly inspires you every single day—don’t wait for a birthday to tell them how much they mean to you. Celebrate them now. Remind them they matter.
And if you’ve ever felt unsure of your path in your twenties, just know… you're not alone. We’re all growing, stumbling, learning—one step at a time.
