Good day, hivers! How's your September so far? It's intramurals' month, right?! Intramurals was one of the most awaited events in every school. As someone who always admired the sport, stepping inside the court as a player was a nerve-wracking and unforgettable feeling. Today, I will be sharing to you my intramurals experience here in San Remigio National High School where I played volleyball for the first time in years.

THE DAY HAS COME

Before any games would start, of course we must held the opening ceremony first and it truly gave me goosebumps because last year, I was able to witness the opening but not as an athlete but just an ordinary students, so it was an emotional moment for me.

Chants and cheers are everywhere as each grad level march around the venue with their banners on. The energy of everyone made it even more exciting and it was the perfect way to welcome this event of the year.

THE FIRST GAME

Our first match was against the Grade 11 students, and it was an intense one. They were really good at playing volleyball, and the pressure was high. In that game, I wasn’t able to play on the court, I only supported my groupmates from the side. At first, I felt very nervous, but as I cheered for my team, I realized that supporting them was just as important as playing. We all clap and scream our lungs out during the game and even if I wasn't playing, is still felt like I was part of the game.

In the first set, we won and in the second set, things got intense as my groupmates weren't in their good conditions. Some players got stomachaches, some had their periods on, and some even got fever. But of course, for the sake of winning, they did all their best and even though I wasn’t inside the court, I was proud of how our team fought hard in that tough match. At the end, we won and we were very happy.

THE CHAMPIONSHIP

The championship game was the highlight of my intramurals experience. This time, I was given the chance to play during the first set of the game. The excitement and nervousness mixed inside me, but once I stepped on the court, I focused on giving my best.

It was a game against Grade 10 students and it wasn't as intense as our game against the Grade 11 students. We were confident that we can win this one but when we lose in the second set, we know we don't have to underestimate the skills of our opponents.

It was an happy moment of mine to finally contribute in our game, especially in the championship round. After that set, I cheered on my teammates as they continued to fight. In the end, we won the championship! I couldn't name what I felt, my first intramurals, my first time playing, and already a champion!

My first volleyball tournament during the SRNHS Intramurals is an experience I will never forget. From cheering in the first game to finally stepping onto the court in the championship, I learned that being part of a team is not only about playing but also about supporting and trusting one another.

That's all dear hivers! You can feel the greatness I felt right now, right?! How about your experience in your intramurals? Was it memorable like mine? Share it with me then!
