Too bad it was cold for the walk, but still a pretty area. It seems like there was a Civil War battle there over the bridge connecting the two sides of the river. But there were Civil War battles all over Virginia! It was a smart idea to get out and wander around before the games and the long drive back home. Talk about a long a day!

I was looking for historic sites like that for us to visit, but I couldn't find anything really close. Maybe I just missed it.
I bet if they let you take a metal detector out in the area of the battle you could find all sorts of good stuff! But most of the time you aren't allowed to detect on historic sites without special permission. It really sucks! lol
