Vibe Coding, 150K HIVE Power, and Infinity

It's been a crazy week to say the least. My wife and I have been splitting our time between home and the hospital. It wasn't so bad when the hospital was just the next town over, but around Tuesday of last week the moved our relative down to the Detroit area which is just about a two hour drive for us. That means we have been putting a lot of miles on @mrsbozz's car. The good news is, the relative seems to be on the mend, and barring any unforeseen developments, they will hopefully be home sooner rather than later.

As you can see from the title of this post, I finally hit my goal of 150K HIVE Power. I was aiming for the end of the year to hit that goal with the hope of making it there a bit earlier. I was actually getting a bit concerned when the price started taking the drop it has, but thanks to my readers and followers, I was able to hit my goal.

As I was thinking about hitting that 150,000 HP milestone, I started reflecting on my HIVE journey as a whole and I decided to play around with a bit of vibe coding to have it create a historic HIVE Power tracker. It's pretty amazing what you can do with AI coding these days. I started off in Claude, but I hit my five hour message limit, so then I switched over to the Google AI Studio.

After putting in my prompt, it was able to come up with something in about five to ten minutes. The availability of the HIVE API makes it pretty easy to pull any kind of data from the chain. I know there are people who have made all kinds of data gathering tools with AI lately, but it's honestly so easy, there isn't much reason you can't just do it yourself.

After a few more prompts, I was able to have it add some things I wanted and take away some other things. I had the project add points on the graph anytime a power down took place. As you can see from my graph, that has never happened, something I am quite proud of.

The only thing I haven't been able to do yet is figure out how to pull the code out of the platform and make it available to everyone. There does seem to be a way to publish it, but you have to pay to do that. I'd rather not pay, but I'm honestly not sure how many people would use this tool anyway. Like I said, it is pretty easy to create your own. If anything, I figure this is just a good way for me to dip my toes into the world of AI. I'm starting to realize, as much as I don't care about AI, I also don't want to put my head in the sand and not at least be educated on it.

I was talking to my sister the other day and she confided in the family that she recently found out she was getting let go from her job after 15 years. There were a variety of reasons for this that I won't get into here, but one of the main ones was that her company is currently working on an AI to do many of the tasks she used to do.

I still think there is going to be a period of huge growth where jobs are cut followed by a slow move back to humans in some positions where they realize AI just doesn't work, but only time will tell.

My buddy was at a charity event a while ago and he saw this really cool keg that made him think of me, so he bid on it and when he actually won it he decided to give it to me for my 50th birthday. He then took it one step further and used a wood burning tool to put my nickname on the side of it. It took me a while to get to it, but I decided to turn the keg into what they call an "infinity bottle". Basically, you take all of your whiskey or bourbon and when you have just a little bit left in a bottle, you pour those together into one bottle to make your own special blend called an infinity bottle.

So I grabbed a few of my bottles that were getting kind of low with just one or two pours left in them and I decided to get my "infinity barrel" started. Obviously, it is important to try to keep things kind of similar when you are doing this. Putting a wheated whiskey in with a bourbon probably wouldn't be a huge mistake, but you definitely wouldn't want to mix a bourbon with a Scotch, or an American Single Malt. However, you probably could mix a Scotch with an American Single Malt, they have similar flavor profiles.

I've still got a long way to go before the barrel is filled, but I am looking forward to enjoying my first pour from it and seeing how it turns out. It's a pretty cool idea and the barrel itself is going to be an awesome conversation piece on our counter. I consider myself lucky to have such thoughtful friends. Though they may be few, I cherish my friendship with each of them, just as I cherish my connections with my followers here on HIVE.
