October is an interesting month. It's that time of year when death is pretty front and center in our minds. Whether it be from all of the horror movies, Dia De Los Muertos, Halloween in general, or the leaves falling from the trees and all the green slowly withering away. Uptober seems to be pretty much dead as well. I'm not even going to look at the charts right now, but from what I have seen over the past few days, BTC isn't handing out any treats right now. It's all tricks and just like everything else is dying, hope is dying right along with it.
I've kind of moved myself into hibernation mode just like many of the wild animals are doing. It's kind of an instinctual thing to just keep stacking whatever tokens I can and hope that one day "spring" will come and things will turn around a bit. The fact is, I have been dealing with some real world stuff lately that has taken most of my attention. Which isn't a bad thing... otherwise, I might be totally depressed by the crypto world.

I've been working on some projects for #thepub community lately and I although I have hinted at them a bit in the past, I am ready to share the full scope of what I have been working on with you today.
The basic premise is, I wanted to use the @thepub account to start curating the posts that people have been making in #thepub community which can be found here. To do this, I started leveraging AI via Google AI Studio to build a bot that could vote on posts that met a certain criteria in The Pub. After hitting my rate limit and several failed attempts, I finally shifted gears.
The biggest issue was the fact that not many people post in The Pub, so for me to test the code, I often had to wait days for someone to actually post in the community to see if the upvote would actually work.
As I said though, I finally gave up on using that tool, and instead, I used my free Claude subscription to see if it could code me something better. Turns out, it could.

Here is the dashboard that Claude coded for me based on the prompts I gave it for my voting bot. As I said, there are certain limits. It will only vote on people who have 50 rep or higher, and the post has to be something like 450 words. The community is also small enough right now that I will be monitoring the posts. If I start to see someone abusing the bot, I will add them to the blacklist I had built in.
The biggest issue is the account has no HP right now to vote. I have a few people that delegated, but any delegations that you are able to spare are welcome. Unlike other projects, I can't guarantee you a return right now. I have a piece built into the code to pay out delegators, but I don't know if it works, and I want to give the account time to get bigger. For example, you can see in he code I have the payout set to 40% for delegators right now. If I can verify that works, I'd like up that amount to closer to 80% or higher, but like I said, I want to build @thepub account up a bit.
Based on the page I vibe coded about a week ago, I need something like 30,000 HP on @thepub account to be able to give out like 25 $.02 upvotes to people's posts per day. I know, it's not great, but we have to start somewhere right?

As I said, there is also a blacklist piece. Given the fact that I am delegating to the account, and also the fact that I post in #thepub a lot, I didn't want there to be the illusion that I was self voting, so I added myself to the blacklist. If you delegate and you would like to be added to the blacklist, please just let me know. Or if there is some other reason you want to be excluded, just let me know.

If you end up not being happy with what I am doing here, just pull your delegation back, I fully understand.
Likewise, if things go well and we grow enough, you could start to earn a decent return on your delegation. So pass the word around and let people know that there will be some incentives to posting in The Pub community, but if you choose to ignore the rules of the community, you will suffer the consequences.
The bot is running on a stand alone server in my environment at work. I think it has pretty low overhead and from what I have seen over the past few days, it seems to be working fine. If you have posted a post in The Pub that meets the criteria, you should see a paltry vote from @thepub.
Of course, there is also The Pub Discord Community where you can join and hang out with us when we aren't playing around on HIVE.

I decided to grill up some chicken wings last weekend using one of my favorite Dizzy Dust Brand seasonings called Tsunami Swim. They were delicious and I am sharing some photos with you here.

Meanwhile, my favorite small modular nuclear reactor company NuScale just entered a deal with Doosan Manufacturing that will finally move their reactor from just a blueprint and concept to a physical reality. This is a huge deal for the small startup company that has already received some major approvals from the US government. Upon the news, the stock jumped 7% and though it is still down from the IPO price, I think this is great news for the company.

Finally, these are a few of the 1 oz bars that I recently ordered from APMEX to give to my nephew for Christmas. I plan on keeping one for myself and the other two will go to him along with the Route 66 Goldback that I shared with you last week. If you didn't see it, you should go back and check it out. These pieces were part of their deal where you buy pure silver off the secondary market for a smaller price above spot. The premiums are usually $2 to $3 lower for these secondary market pieces than some of the other ones. If you don't really care what is on the bars or rounds and you simply want to stack silver, this is a great way to go.

Wishing you well with the pub community. Love the wings, looking so delish. Stacking silver bars; I did that back in the 90's. Sold it all back to Apmex when we had the silver run. Paid for all new windows in my house, new pathway, new recliners, and paid down debt. You are investing in your future.
That is awesome! I need new windows in my house, but they are so expensive! Maybe during the next run I can do that! Thanks for stopping by!
Man, wings on the grill and stacking physical silver — you've got this hibernation thing figured out. Your nephew is gonna love those bars way more than some random toy. Do you grill all winter too?
Yes, I grill all winter, even when it gets to be below freezing. I once did a brisket when it was -10 F out.
-10 F for a brisket?! That is some serious dedication right there. Respect, man — nothing beats hot food off the grill when it's freezing out
cold season in the northern hemisphere starting soon, season of restrictions, flu infections and the blues for many people
Yes, all of that is very true!
I'm happy to invest in The Pub. I'm sure it's exciting to be building something like this. It will certainly give you something positive to focus on. Have a great weekend Jay!
Paying for delegation I'm ok with, but using a bot to vote on those who are posing in #thepub can backfire easily. I understand you would blacklist them, but even so, it gives them a few free rounds till you do. Once the word gets out, that there's a vote to be gained, all the wrong people you don't want to see here will be in this community and I know you understand who I am talking about.
I know you're reading each post and will continue to do so, so if you spend time on each post anyway, you could vote manually using the community account.
Otherwise I'm in, let's build this community up. I'm going to spend more time in here as I'm locking in anyway, so I'm going to vote good content and let's hope we can grow the community.
On that note, you can bribe me with some BBQ, as it looks good and made me hungry 😂
Sadly, The Pub gets more posts into it than my BBQ community. I really do love cooking for people. My wife typically only eats white meat chicken, so the stuff I grill tends to be pretty healthy too. Even the homemade mac and cheese that looks horrible for you is actually pretty healthy because of how she makes it. I understand what you are saying about the autovotes. Right now I probably have the time to manage both, but I really don't want to have to flip back and forth between two accounts. What could end up happening with a quick prompt to Claude is I end up creating a "white list" like some of the old curation groups used to have. If I start seeing a lot of abuse, I'll either just shut it off, or try to flip to something like that. I don't want this to be a place where people leech from the platform, but I'd like to see it become a place where people feel free to post their content and know that it will get eyes on it. Ideally The Pub becomes a regular stop for some of the bigger curation projects to pick a few posts from each day.
The Pub is for general use, while the BBQ community requires quite a lot, so it is understandable.
I hope you can find the way to do things easier and the way you like. A white list is better than a bot, I agree.
