RE: Watch me crashing (new video) and some cycling talk...

Cool video! Real climbs are something different than riding against the wind πŸ˜‰
You've experienced that allright!
Luckily you didn't crash full speed downhill.
Did the climbpro on Garmin work?
Garmin also has an crash detection. I've configured it to send an alert to my wife with my location when I crash. It has a 30 second timeout, so you can cancel the alert if you are OK after the crash.
I find it a safe thought to have that when I go cycling abroad where you might not always have a lot of other people around.
I haven't been cycling more than my commuting rides lately because of the insulation project if my garage. But I will also go to Germany later this month and bring my Bicycle.

That Kickr looks cool too. I prefer outdoor rides too, but it is nice you can jump on it anytime and all year long.
I've borrowed a Tackx recently, but didn't manage to get my Bianchi on it without same investments. And when it is too cumbersome, I know I wont be using it. That kicker is ready to ride at any time, but I'm afraid that I just won't be using isn't enough to justify the purchase of it. Especially after buying my new bicycle recently πŸ˜‚

Thank you!
Yes climbing is very different indeed, it slows you down even more 😏when the speeds in virtual riding are anything comparable to real life, I was climbing a 12% slope with 7km/h at 230 watts πŸ˜… from now on I won't complain anymore when I can't get above 20km/h when riding with full on head winds haha.

The climbpro did work, it told me how much elevation I had left and what the climb looks like, but it didn't went to the climbing screen by itself, or I was just to impatient...

The Garmin crash detection only triggers on real crashes, I have it activated as well it's a great function indeed. I've crashes off-road multiple times already but it's always slow speed crashes, losing traction at sharp bends, clipping a tree, fail to climb... it did trigger once after I had washed my bike with the Garmin still attached and I was bouncing the bike on the ground to get most of the water off, it's easy to cancel the alert as well.

And i totally agree, when you have to attach your bike to the indoor trainer every time that's too much work and I won't use it as well, in my case it's on the second floor so not very practical too, and yes it's way too expensive (€1200 for the set) to ride it every now and then. The main reason to buy it was for my wife's back and now my entire household of 4 is using it.

My Garmin always shows me when there is an upcoming climb and shows something like "start climb". Did you upload your route to your Garmin? I always do. Maybe that could make a difference.
My cycling gear is just used by me. That does make a difference πŸ˜ƒ
